The Groot Begijnhof Leuven is a heritage museum that preserves the religious and social history of women in Leuven, Belgium. The museum is located in the heart of the town, and it is a great place to wander through quiet streets lined with old brick houses and step-gabled brick houses with stone window frames. There are also a couple of pretty footbridges that cross the central stream.

Went on a weekend visit to Leuven and this place was breathtaking. So calm and peaceful yet holding a huge history. It used to be a residence of Nuns and now a UNESCO heritage site perfect for promenade 🤗

Palak R — Google review

I’ve been to Begijnhoven all over Belgium. Probably because it is a mostly-Dutch/Belgian concept, but still. All of them have the same characteristics (green grass courtyards for washing clothes, little houses right next to each other and cosy streets, a church on the grounds, etc..) but what makes this one special is not-hidden in the name. It is pretty big. The one in Antwerp and Tongeren are small in comparison (not less cute though). You’d be amiss not to stroll through this serene and walled-in area of Leuven, stubbing your toes against the cobblestones and wondering if people still live here (spoiler: a lot of students still do).

Calm and fun stroll in the 18th century. For coffee go to the cute cat Cafe just a few minutes walk away.

Hagai K — Google review

Such a lovely and peaceful area. I really felt like i stepped back in time. Definitely worth a visit ♥️

Dirk T — Google review

A quiet lovely villiage perfect for a contemplative walk. Pairs well with the botanical gardens a modest walk away.

Matt H — Google review

A beautiful tiny town built inside another beautiful town, Leuven. It is an official UNESCO world heritage site, built in 1232, it's a place of silence and rest, where students, professors and visitors from abroad live to be near of the University

Mattia T — Google review

Beautiful relaxing place totally worth a visit when in Leuven. Its a well deserved Unesco site. The history of the Beguines is worth exploring as a movement challenging traditions and cultures, and alternative points of view.

Juan P — Google review

The best Begijnhof in Belgium in my opinion. And Belgium has a lot of beautiful ones! But this particular one is stunning. We visited on a weekday and it was so peaceful.

Michael J — Google review

Nice place to see historical buildings.

Eslem M — Google review

It’s a breathtaking testament to history and architectural grandeur, buildings of Gothic and Renaissance styles.

Fernanda P — Google review

Beautiful ancient buildings, as if returning to the past years, worth visiting

Groot Begijnhof Leuven is an absolute gem! It's like an oasis of rest right in the middle of the city. Walking through this medieval retreat feels like you've stepped into another era. A quiter one. The cobblestone streets and old buildings are so peaceful and beautiful. It's the perfect spot to escape the hustle and just soak in the quiet, historic vibes. If you need a break and love a bit of history, you gotta check this place out!

Nick — Google review

Gives you a very old colonial vibe as soon as you step into the streets. Its a well preserved beguinage containing numerous houses and apartments and is owned by the University for its housing needs. With beautiful brick houses, stone walkways, canals and a garden…this is a must visit spot in Leuven

Niranjana S — Google review

UNESCO WH site. Gorgeous and well restored housing which is now used for student accommodation in Leuven.Free to access and wonder around, quietness is encouraged as the place is quiet and peaceful so visitors are encouraged to keep noise to a minimum.Walking distance from Leuven city centre. One thing I did notice was the lack of bins and seating areas to take a break during the walk.

J B — Google review

A must-see historical site if you want to see a wonderfully restored old village compound once inhabited by hundreds of women from the religious order of the beguines. The beguinage covers a relatively large area intertwined with a river, a lot of green, magnificent historical buildings and the beguin church, open to the public. The site is inhabited by a few happy students and university professors who would be pleased with a bit of silence. In other words: a tourist location but no typical attraction for noisy kids or anyone looking for a coffee place, restaurant or souvenir shop. Only paid parking spots can be found in the near vicinity. Wheelchair access is challenging since the compound is paved with cobblestones.

Freddy V — Google review

I love this place because I can feel the lives of people in the past and now. Small windows with non-flat glasses and their live through the windows attract me and make me go back to past. Bumpy stone-paved road help me to imagine the world without cars.

Tarou C — Google review

Very nice old district, we had luck to be there at Sunday evening. It was almost empty, very calm, with romantic flair and seldom pedestrians passing the streets. Definitely one "must-see" during the visit to Loeven!

Maria M — Google review

Really calm and nice place, worth a visit if you are in the area

Ari D — Google review

It feels exceptional to stay at a world heritage site, the magnificent “Groot Begijnhof”, where I had the opportunity to stay during my visiting professorship at KU Leuven.

EmpathicHomes — Google review

The begijnhof neighborhood in Leuven is recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site (along with other begijnhofs in Flanders). It feels as though you’re stepping back in time while walking through the immaculately well-maintained streets admiring the old stone roads and the red brick buildings. A professor at the local university informed us that the residents are a mix of established locals as well as university students. Irrespective of the profiles of the neighborhood’s inhabitants, it is extremely serene, quiet and feels safe even walking alone late at night. While it is a good hike from the train station and a bit away from the center of town, make the trip to the begijnhof for a step back in time.

University library

Sights & Landmarks

The University Library is a large and impressive building, with beautiful views of the city from various vantage points. It has a wide variety of materials, including many rare books and manuscripts. You can also visit the tower to get great views of the city.

Lovely library in a beautiful building. For few euros it is possible to climb up to the top of the tower, with a view dominating over the whole city of Leuven

Daniele R — Google review

Super Leuven view. You shouldn’t miss this beautiful 360 degree view. Two remarks: it only pays back your energy invests when the sky is blue and sunny 😎. And secondly: Watch your steps!I do strongly recommend the guided tours offered by the tourism office. The guides are well educated, with a lot of historical knowledge and the educational background needed.

Michael S — Google review

Great views of the entire city. Nice to see the bell mechanism at work. Only 250 stairs not too bad.

Izak K — Google review

You feel the history. Definitely go up the tower where on each level you get some background about the history. A free audio guide is available via an app.

Wim V — Google review

Over 600 years old and standing proud, the KU Leuven library is an iconic monument that has withstood multiple attacks from neighbouring allies. It not only is an academic powerhouse but it has also shaped the skyline of Leuven city. Climb 290 steps to enjoy a beautiful city view. Also don’t miss out on the audio tour

Niranjana S — Google review

Amazing place! You can see a library that remind Harry Potter movie. And there is a tower on each level of which you will find more and more information about library destruction in WWI and in WWII and how it was rebuild. From the top of tower you can see a beautiful panorama of Leuven.Whole visit takes approx 1-1.5h.Tower is high and stairs are narrow.Prior ticket booking is required - see the site that shown on this page.

Olga V — Google review

The highest tower of Leuven. This historic tower provides an unobstructed view of the leuven city center, a great addition to any travel itinerary when visiting leuven. As you make your way to the top, informative panels guide you through the turbulant past of this great city.

Robin 1 — Google review

Regarding the two catastrophic attacks on the historical library, education and science prove once again that they're the enemies of brutality, barbarism and extremism. Sciences will always prevail.

Hassan K — Google review

Library and tower are cool, but not sure if worth paying for.

Nicolas B — Google review

It's a beautiful building with a lo5 of details and history. However, do know that 4 euro entrance costs don't include the tower e trance. Library stair case and big hall are absolutely marvellous ( just beware of some noisy stairs . Pillars in the entrance have names of all universities that donated money and assistance for the rebuild. All in all they did a fabulous job in recreation of the library .Staff was super super polite at the reception

Umair A — Google review

Today, I took my 3-year-old child to visit the Universiteitsarchief KU Leuven . The most interesting thing was that we climbed the tower together. The process of climbing the tower was very meaningful. It took 40 minutes in the library and the ticket was 7 euros. The conductor is very patient.

Jasmine L — Google review

This is a must see for all history and architecture lovers! If you decide to go into the library, the library tower offers a skyline view of the city Leuven due to its centric location :)P.S. climbing the tower takes around 300 stairs so please take this into account while buying tickets.

Nidhi S — Google review

Working library and tourist attraction in one. Thus review will be from perspective of tourist.Tour is explained at the information inside. Lockers for free are available inside. The tour is individual and you need to download it through the app. Except one bug, the app worked smoothly. Bluetooth will show you points of interest around. The tour takes around 1 hour to 90 minutes. Be careful to have enough time left for the tower (check closing times). The view is probably the best in the city..

Jakub Š — Google review

Amazing place!! You should listen to the audio and go up the tower. Don’t miss the beautiful scenery! Visit the library at noon and evening, you don’t want to miss it. Here are some pics :)

Gaby — Google review

A great view and amazing history behind it. But a lot of stairs to go to the top of the tower.

WOXSEOK — Google review

It's worth the price, i got a discount of 2 euros for the ticket (from 7e to 5e) after showing my student card to the staff. with the ticket visitors can get an audio tour in the nice library (with great collections) and enjoy the view of Leuven from bell tower. Easily reachable from the station.

Laras A — Google review

Beautiful tower and library, the library was bombed during World War II to subtly remind the people of this the tower (who was still intact) is left at its original place and the library was build asymmetrical with the belfry tower.Beautiful building!

Bar

The Old Market in Leuven is a buzzing, tree-shaded town square lined with open-air bars and restaurants in ornate gabled mansions. La Oude Markt, c'est place to be for a snack at the student atmosphere. It's filled with bars and cafés, so we'd gone to Bar 9 on recommendation from an old student louvaniste: apparently they have some of the best cocktails!

Used to live near by. It's changed a lot in the last few years but still remains beautiful place for a drink or food

Richard D — Google review

Beautiful old square with plenty of cafes, bars and places to eat. Reduced services and number of places open on a Sunday so it’s best to go on a Saturday when the town square is active and full of life.Wear comfortable shoes, the cobblestones can be lethal for your feet!

The Old Market in Leuven is known as the “longest bar in the world”. Little gem of a town of the standard tourist track, with lovely medieval streets and plenty of cafes/bars/restaurants in the centre. Head out towards the Begijnhof to experience some really old cobbled streets that seem to be untouched by modern standards

Dave S — Google review

Vibrant square with dozens of varied pubs and bars, and a couple of spots to eat. Definitely come for a drink in the sun if you are visiting Leuven in the summer.

Lucas M — Google review

The place is phenomenal. Cafe places are crowded, but they are very lovely. You can find everything over there: cafe places, restaurants, fast food, bars.. etc. It is better to walk around.. don't rely on a car because some streets are very narrow and cars are not allowed there. If you are looking for history, entertainment, and fun time. This is the best place

"The Longest Bar in Europe." There are many different pubs, cafes, and restaurants to choose from, suited to any occasion. I enjoy the quiet and leisurely ambiance during the daytime, but the place is truly lively at night.

Joseph J — Google review

Such a pretty square with bars, restaurants and cafes all around its perimeter. It seems to be mostly a place for evening and late night and I've noticed a younger crowd. It is central and all around it there are shops, more restaurants and cafes, and fast food chains. You won't find parking in the center of Leuven because it's mostly pedestrian so I suggest walking/riding or taking the bus. There are underground parking garages right on the outskirt though but I think public transportation is the best bet.

Patrizia R — Google review

My husband and I stopped for lunch in our way from Amsterdam to Brussels. Very cute market square with shops, cafes and beautiful architecture. While enjoying our lunch we witnessed 2 weddings at the church! We visited on a Saturday afternoon on a beautiful July day. We enjoyed beer and wine along with good food (schnitzel) outside on the patio at Reubens. The staff was pleasant and we very little issues with language. We spent about $60 euros on lunch. If you find this review helpful please like and follow.

Rechelle R — Google review

Service at the highest level. Always pleasant smiling and helpful staff. The most delicious dishes I have ever tasted in Belgium. I come here with pleasure to eat. I wish you prosperity. Thank you for your attentive attitude towards each visitor 🇺🇦

Мария К — Google review

The buildings are beautiful, but the center is in fact very small. The biggest problem is that it's almost impossible to find a parking spot. I guess the best option is to come by train.

Corina A — Google review

Vibrant city centre area. Lots of bars, lots of restaurants for all budgets. Always busy. When the weather is good, you can “walk on heads” here.

Francis B — Google review

My wife and I visited this place yesterday with my daughter and her husband - now living in Hever. What an interesting experience... seeing all the different architecture in one town...amazing. We truly enjoyed the outing and scenery. We also enjoyed some beer - very nice... karmeliet.

The Kruidtuin botanical garden is an old and well-maintained garden that features a greenhouse, as well as a variety of carefully tended plant displays. This lovely attraction is definitely worth a visit for any botany enthusiast.

It is a large garden with a wide range of plants and it is divided into many areas both indoors and outdoors. In spring, most of plants here are blooming and full of colors. We can explore plants in different living conditions. I can find plants from my country, a tropical country, though it is far away from home now. It is totally free and there are many chairs to sit and enjoy the atmosphere here.

The botanical garden of Leuven is one of my favorite places. First of all, it’s free. Secondly, it offers an incredible variety of flowers and plants throughout the year! You can really see the garden living and changing day by day—quite amazing! I've discovered some really fascinating plants there, including some rare ones from the Philippines. It's also a charming place if you just want to relax. We've even seen people working there; it's such a pleasant environment overall.I've been visiting this garden for almost three years, and I never get tired of it.❤️

My favourite place in Leuven, big and green. You can come any season and find bloom flowers and green fields. Entrance is free, very clean, good place to come with family or friends

Amazing landscaping with many varieties of plants and trees. Giant maple trees and a huge greenhouse with plants that wouldn't survive the winter. If you like plants, you will love this place. Bravo to the gardeners that care for this place.

A lush, green oasis in the city of Leuven. Not too far from the center of the city. It's wonderful for a walk, although it can be crowded during the weekend especially if the weather is nice.

Krishanu D — Google review

A green oasis especially on a warm day. If you need a quiet bench in the shade and some green beauty this is a lovely garden to sit and relax. I even learned some new gardening and composting techniques.

Very good place to visit. Especially in spring. Flowers are blooming, and the garden is very beautiful. You can also bring laptops and work here as there are plenty of tables and chairs spread around.

Grigol P — Google review

Entrance is free. There is a toilet, also free. No large, but rather intensively used garden of Leuven University. It was established several centuries ago for growing plants fir medical purpose for students practice. It consists of several open areas with decorative and fruit/berries plants and trees and several greenhouses with tropical plants and flowers. You can buy a book about the garden and plant collection. If you like plants snd gardens, you can spend a pair of hours walking there.

Nidhi A — Google review

This place is free to enter and is refreshing amidst the city's hustle with its greenery and numerous trees. At the right time you can also view beautiful flowers blooming. Many people come for leisurely walks in the afternoon.

Soumani M — Google review

A very nice and well maintained Botanical Garden. A public facility that is used for educational purposes to demonstrate for students how things can be done. They even had a kiwi orchard which looked almost ready to pick! Though the friendly person who worked there was very clear that no one is to pick anything from the different fruit trees and we felt we needed to mention that we didn't do any picking ourselves. We thought it funny how that chat went 😁 The place needs a small Cafe, it would have been perfect to sit in such surroundings and relax a bit and drink something, especially today because it was unseasonably hot at 30 or so degrees celsius!

Gaith B — Google review

Beautiful botanical garden. Good for walks, office work with laptop, studying, strolling with kids. Peaceful and well maintained. Different varieties of plants and herbs. Must visit this hidden gem in Leuven. Its free of cost. Open everyday till 8 pm. Photography allowed. They also have greenhouses and slider turtles too.

The 15th-century stadhuis is a magnificent Gothic-style former municipal headquarters with turrets, fancy stonework, and 236 sculptures on the walls. It is one of Leuvens most iconic sights and survived numerous wars that devastated the rest of the town. The building can pretend to be ninth wonder of the world.

One of the most incredible and intricate buildings! You could stand and stare at it for hours and continually notice something new! Even more wonderful in the morning sunlight we got. We did not go inside, we were simply happy to gaze upon it.

A beautiful building , the minarets depicts the Islamic minarets in Middle East . Lots of effort put to maintain the building . It would be great if a silent room is built in it so people can come and read salah / prayers at it when it’s time for prayer .

Yusaf I — Google review

A beautiful building in the center of Leuven with 235 statues to admire. It’s a must see if you are visiting Leuven. There are daily one hour tours in Dutch and English and on the weekend in French. In these tours you visit the interior of the building while learning about the history. The cost is 4 euros and you can buy tickets in the tourist office around the corner. Starting in September 2024, this building will be closed for renovation until 2029. So if you want to take a tour, I would recommend doing it now!

I saw so many city centers here in Belgium that for me it is just another one, but I can say that the buildings are very nice, they are worth to see, you can feel the right city center atmosphere, you can "smell it", you can see the crowds of people, tourists, locals, visitors, you can find many and many bars and shops there, sometimes it is good even for me to receive the city aroma so in some cases I like to go to places like this

Magnificent and Magical - this is the most iconic spots in Leuven. I went on weekday as it was a short drive from Wavre. Both day and night view are awesome. Don’t forget to book a guided tour if you want to visit the interiors. The inside of the town hall is well preserved with wooden ceilings and chandeliers transporting us to that era. Very beautiful!!!

Unbedingt sehenswert! I do strongly recommend the guided tours offered by the tourism office. The guides are well educated, with a lot of historical knowledge and the educational background needed.(Translated by Google)Definitely worth seeing! All niches were occupied by over 200 statues in the 19th century; Victor Hugo is said to have personally addressed a letter to the then mayor of Leuven. And this building is still original. During the First World War, the Germans had their headquarters here and thus the destruction caused by a major fire was prevented. And in World War II, a bomb dropped by the Allies didn't explode but simply fell to the ground. And legend has it that the then Duke moved his seat of government from Leuven to Brussels. The Leuven people built this magnificent building to encourage him to come back to Leuven. But that didn't work and Brussels became the capital of today's Belgium. Apparently the people of Brussels built an even more beautiful town hall.I do strongly recommend the guided tours offered by the tourism office. The guides are well educated, with a lot of historical knowledge and the educational background needed.

This building is certainly one that has impressed me the most while visiting Leuven.Leuven's Town Hall is the historic city's pièce de résistance. Moreover, it's one of the best-known Gothic town halls worldwide. It took three architects and thirty years to build it.Leuven's 'Hall of Fame' features 235statues, which were only added to the façade after 1850.It’s a must see if you are visiting Leuven.

Such a beautiful city hall, happening square. Especially great in winter with Christmas lights. Preferable to go at-least once and to keep in your bucket list.

Magnificent and Magical - this is the most iconic spots in Leuven. Don’t forget to book a guided tour if you want to visit the interiors. The inside of the town hall is well preserved with wooden ceilings and chandeliers transporting us to that era. Very beautiful!!!

The Town Hall of Leuven, Belgium! A magnificent Gothic building that stands as a testament to the city's rich history and cultural heritage.1. Construction: Built between 1439 and 1463, with later additions and renovations.2. Gothic architecture: Exemplifies the Brabantian Gothic style, characterized by intricate stone carvings, pointed arches, and ribbed vaults.3. Facade: The striking facade features a mix of stone and brick, with 236 statues of saints, prophets, and biblical figures.4. Tower: The 100-meter-tall (328 ft) tower offers panoramic views of the city.5. Interior: The grand hall, council chamber, and wedding room showcase ornate decorations, tapestries, and artwork.6. Historical significance: Served as the seat of government for the Duchy of Brabant and later the Province of South Brabant.7. Restoration: Underwent extensive restoration after being damaged during World War I and World War II.8. UNESCO World Heritage Site: Part of the larger "Belfries of Belgium and France" UNESCO designation.9. Cultural events: Hosts various events, exhibitions, and concerts throughout the year.10. Symbol of Leuven: The Town Hall is an iconic symbol of the city and appears on the Leuven city coat of arms. The Town Hall of Leuven is an awe-inspiring example of medieval architecture, reflecting the city's prosperity and cultural significance during the Middle Ages.

This city town hall is one of most beautiful hall, it's just stunning with the little detail of arts. Especially, with the sunset light reflex toward the Hall, just gorgeous.

Pasan S — Google review

Spectacular building with a Flemish Gothic façade, although the remains of Leuven's first town hall, built in 1439 and located on the main square, are no longer preserved. It has been destroyed and rebuilt three times in the last hundred years, the last time after the Second World War.On the outside we can see 236 statues, all of them of important figures in the history of the city, arranged by floors: on the ground floor we find academics and artists, on the ground floor religious figures, on the first floor members of the nobility and finally, at the top of the towers, scenes from the Bible are represented.

Yesterday we went for another visit to Netepark Vorselaar. We had excellent weather and arrived well before the rest of the horde, meaning we had the playground and swimming pool pretty much for ourselves. The playground is suitable for the youngest kids as well as kids in the early teens. The entrance fee even thou we're not from Herentals is really democratic. There are also trampolines, a multi purpose field, a small football field a beach volleyball court and a Mini Golf (last one at a small extra fee). The swimming pool has 2 outdoor pools and inside there's another 4 (if you count the small one for the toddlers as well). Next to this there's a whirlpool and fast slide and some hot tubs. One of the inside pools was also filled with toys. Beware, to enter the swimming pool area there are some regulations, loose swimming clothes like shorts are not allowed, also kids under the age of eight must always be accompanied by an adult. There also a restaurant where you can get foods and drinks.

Always love to be here. The place is close to our place and we can go there with the bus also. They have strict rules over the swimsuit. So make sure to check it what you can jot used it and what you may use it. Because if you dont use the swimsuit that they are allowed, then you can not go to the water. They have 5 different pools and one water slide. Outside, there are 2 zwembad. One for children and one for adults. Indoor, they have one big pool with golfen en jacuzzi. Hot zwembad for children from 50-90cm. And big zembad for adults or someone that can swim. And also the slide. Beside the zwembad, they have playground that according the age. They have mini golf. They have trampoline. They have bmx track. Football and basketball field also. And big park that you can choose wherever to sid. They also have restaurant that you can order from their menu. Overall, this place is recommended to visit.

Very unfriendly staff..from the lady at the entrance to the lifeguards.God forbid you forget your ID and have no proof you live in Herentals..even if your spouse presented her/his ID.The lifeguards don t bother to begin with a simple "hello" or a smile..no softskills at all.Swimming pools are very nice and fun..the staff ruins the experience.

Amazing facilities for kids. Entry gives you whole day access to a leisure pool, baby pool, 25m indoor pool, 25m outdoor pool, outdoor paddling pool, pool slide as well as unlimited use of the outdoor playground, trampolines, bmx track (bikes included) and mini golf. We spent most of the day there with 6yr & 8yr old kids who rated it 100/10.

The Beekse Bergen zoo offers visitors the unique experience of observing various wild animals such as elephants, lions and apes in their natural habitat. The park provides guided tours on buses, boats and walking paths, allowing for a diverse way of exploring the grounds. The zoo sets itself apart from others by offering the opportunity to drive through areas where many of the animals roam freely which is an exceptional experience.

Great place to spend time with kids. It was a unique experience for us to be able live right next to a few lions 🦁 . You hear them roaring the whole night but it was exciting and fun. The safari park has lot of animals to visit by foot or by car or by boat. We tried all and it was worth it. There is a big fun park for kids with rides as well. Days well spent.

Kamlesh K — Google review

A beautiful zoo where animals roam freely. I got together with my friends and their kids for a Sunday activity. It was a pleasant day. You can do a safari by bus and ship. There is also an option that you can do with your vehicle if you prefer, but it is a bit limited compared to others. What I don't like about this place is that the food options were a little less; frankly, we couldn't find anything to eat. But if you want to do a safari without going to Africa, it is a good option. The parking fee is 9.50 Euros, and you can get it from the internet or the kiosks at the entrance. There is no control when entering, but they check one by one when leaving. I would recommend not taking it in advance to don't stay at the exit.

Emrah O — Google review

This zoo for me was one of the best zoos I have seen so far. First of all the you could get a chance to see all the animals which you would see on the map. It was really exciting for kids to see them all. There are different options to explore it , by walk, by your vehicle, by the boat.Special attractions were, lion, tiger of different types. There are sufficient sitting areas to sit and eat and toilets. All area is wheel chair friendly and you also get a kid cart in case if you forget to bring.

This animal park in the south of Holland is one the biggest park in Benelux region. It’s a good place for the kids to have fun play and watch animals and birds. The best part of this park is they let you drive your own car through the jungle where you can meet this animals on the way walking towards you. Kids will for sure loves this park, it takes almost a whole to roam around this park. There is an option for a boat ride that’s included with entry ticket. There are ample of snacks shops available throughout the park. It’s advisable to book your tickets in advance. If your coming by public transport from station you have a good connectivity to reach this park by bus. You can also walk through the park for a wonderful experience

Ashok M — Google review

It is most amazing and secret safari in Netherlands. I would definitely recommend to book safari resort where you spend your whole day with animal. Everything arranged so well.Who don’t want to have breakfast next to giraffe or lion or many more. Must experience thingy. Definitely recommended!

Beekse Bergen offers an unforgettable safari experience that is sure to impress even the most seasoned travelers. The vast plains and rolling hills of the park provide an ideal backdrop for a thrilling adventure that is both educational and entertaining. One of the best ways to experience Beekse Bergen is on foot or car. These safaris allow visitors to get up close and personal with a variety of animals, including, lions, rhinos, and giraffes. The guides are happy to answer questions and provide insight into the behavior and habits of the animals, making for an educational and informative experience. For those who prefer a more adventurous safari experience, Beekse Bergen offers the option to drive your own car through the park. This allows visitors to explore the park at their own pace and get even closer to the animals. The park provides a app that details the different routes through the park and provides information on the various animals that can be seen along the way.Overall, Beekse Bergen offers a safari experience that is both impressive and unforgettable. Whether you choose to explore the park on foot or by car, you are sure to be greeted by breathtaking scenery and a wide variety of fascinating animals. The park is well-maintained and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making for a truly enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend a visit to Beekse Bergen to anyone looking for a unique and exciting safari adventure. My family and I will certainly come back again.

Tarintata — Google review

Interesting concepts of a safari park, mixed with a zoo. It is a big spacious park, where the animals have lots of space, with a focus on African animals. The car safari is a nice ride passing the animal, and sometimes engaging with them. The zoo part is a good walk, but the variety of animals is a bit limited. The extremely large elephant enclosure is under serious reconstruction, and looks promising. A nice tip: if you are a member of the ANWB, go to their website for discounted tickets, saves 20-25%.

This resort is 2 thumps up. The scenery is wonderful. We stayed at the lion's area. So basically our backyard was all lion's. It was an amazing experience. My kids enjoyed it so much.Every other day, they feed the lion's at 9:45am in the morning. If I come back, I'm staying again with the lion's. The lion's roar is so powerful and beautiful.

Beekse Bergen is hands down one of the coolest places I've ever been to! If you love nature, animals, and a bit of adventure, this place is a awesome especially for kids. What I also loved is how well everything is set up for families. There's so much to do! The playgrounds are epic, and the little ones will have a blast. And if you're staying overnight at the resort, the accommodations are fantastic. We stayed in one of the safari tents, and it felt like a mini African adventure, but with all the comforts you need. Plus, waking up with a view of the animals is something really special. You can often hear the bigger felines roaring at night which makes for atmospheric experience. The staff are super friendly and helpful, which just makes the whole experience even better. Whether you're into the idea of a relaxing nature getaway or a full-on animal-filled adventure, Beekse Bergen has something for everyone. Totally recommend it!

Exceptional zoo. Amazing to drive your car with the animals walking around or even towards you. Also the walk routes are great. Doable with a wheelchair or pram.Information signs in different languages and enough clean toilets.Great variety of animals to see. It's a zoo but different. We went wit kids between the age of 4 and 19 and all had a great time!

A very nice experience in a sunny day. A perfect tour with the kids, a lot of animals to see. We liked the possibility to visit the park in different ways, by walking, by car and also by bus and a boat. Very well organized also with restaurants. Recommended.

Vito C — Google review

A little bit expensive (35 euros pp), but it's nice to see rare animals. Unfortunately you can't feed them. You can watch the zoo by walking, driving slowly your own car or by boat (too far to see animals clearly) .

Marina T — Google review

Outstanding. This safari park covers a large area and harbors many animals. The animals have large amounts of space - you can’t possibly compare that to any other regular zoo out there. There’s also quite a few young animals, which you might not always see at first, but if you do it is always a beautiful sight, since it indicates how at home they feel here. There are a lot of great animals to see here. One of my personal favorites were the ring-tailed lemurs. They roam completely free in their territory with no fences whatsoever. Fascinatingly, they are not shy or scared at all - in fact, they will walk onto the path all by themselves and happily let you come closer to observe them. A very unique experience. The boat-safari gets you from one end of the park to the other within about 30 minutes, while also providing a small tour at the same time. You may see a few animals near the water, however, most of them will likely be pretty far away and you might not see much. There’s no guarantee. The park offers multiple opportunities to get food, drinks, and all sorts of snacks. This includes restaurants and also small food stands. Most of it is quite expensive, so you might want to bring some things yourself too.Overall, this might be the greatest animal park I have ever been to, and I can only recommend it. It is a wonderful, unforgettable experience and I had a really good time. The visit is definitely worth it.

Selina — Google review

Great spacious zoo/safari park which is ideal for a long walk. Plus side is that when you are tired of walking you can take the safari bus or boat back close to the entrance. Parking is not cheap, but also not overly expensive. Food is decent and on par with gas station prices. Park has a good variety of animals and is pretty well accessable.

Mark G — Google review

Wonderful place, and a magical experience for the kids. We spent four days here and could have stayed longer. We opted to stay in a house on the edge of one of the animal enclosures (lodge 411) and woke up each morning to a rhino outside our house! Having not done an African safari I do however think this is the next best thing, especially at half the price. There is so much to see and do, mixed together with the driving, walking and boat safaris, then you throw in the beach and lake resort and you can easily entertain yourself and the kids for a week or more. When booking our accommodation and tickets, you also get entry into lots of other local attractions, which we didn't even get a chance to do.I would say the only downside was the food. The restaurants were expensive and there weren't a lot of options. The best one to eat at if you do choose to eat out is at Hogan House, as the buffet was good. However the upside to each of the restaurants are the views of the animals, and the fact they have play parks for the kids (although there isn't really any play equipment for under three). In our lodge you did have a kitchen so you could easily self cater, as there are supermarkets a short drive away from the resort.I would 100% recommended this place to anyone who loves animals or wants a holiday with a bit of a twist. My only piece of advice would be to avoid trying to see the animals on a really hot day as they all hide in the shade. We did one walk on a scorching hot day and hardly saw any animals then the next day it rained and stormed in the morning, so by the afternoon it was much cooler and they were all out in force!

Laura — Google review

This Safari park is amazing. It is done in very Safari like decor and style so you get great imersive experience. We wnet there on our family holidays and since we have 2 very young kids it was ideal. Our girls were so happy to see gorrila (so were we!) and chimps. We didn't manage to see the whole place but definitely enjoyed our visit. They have a whole heard of elephants which is amazing.Felt the gift shop was very mainstream and not mind-blowing. Would enjoy more of nature/wildlife/conservation/sustainability friendly items there. Also was expecting to find some animals figurens from Schleich or Papo but there wasn't anything. Just some cheap rubbery ones ir stuffed toys.We needed up buying animals (gorilla etc) Schleich figurines on our ferry back to UK. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Great experience for young and old. Recommend doing the Car Safari and then the walking safari. There is also a boat safari if you're more into that (you can also rent a canoe or board a guided tour on the boats). The animals seemed very relaxed and not too shy for some nice photos.

Went here for Awakenings Summer Festival 2024. The atmosphere is amazing, it is definitely a space surrounded by trees and water, that give festivals the proper scenario.I’m honestly not sure how this place operates in a daily basis, but it seems that is very clean and organized for public visitors. Transportation is very easy taking the shuttle bus from Tilburg station.

Place for a day out with kids.Jungle safari ride , or walk both are equally interesting . Plenty of parking space. Several food and snack options are available.Light safari festival was lovely experience. Although the crowd was not managed properly , too crowded and a walking route of 20mins took more than 2hrs due to crowd.

It is a very nice park. We did a bus safari. The bus driver was so enthusiastic. She told us nice stories about the park, the animals and it was really fun to listen to her. Then we did a preying bird safari. It was also a fascinating show. Those birds were so gracious to see. Besides, we walked through the park. It's beautiful. And animals do look happy there. But the cutest thing was to see the three little elephants. The smallest one was just three days old. Super cute!People working there are so friendly! We enjoyed this experience.

Veronika V — Google review

Great day out.The animal enclosures were all set out in such a way that you weren't left searching for the animals inside them. The new restaurant is very good, with nice food, maybe a little pricey but these places tend to be like that.We liked the kids obstacle courses and play areas that were dotted all throughout the paths, they broke up the long walk and stopped the kids from getting bored.

Richard W — Google review

We visited the light safari which was really nice. There were so many people which sometimes completely forced the crowd to a complete stop. Felt like walking in ultra slow motion most of the time e. Got a lot better past the half way bar.

Albrecht C — Google review

Great experience, will come back here for sure. The allotment for the animals is huge and all of them seem relaxed and happy, I did not see signs of stress. Really impressive. Oh and, the toddler elephants are really adorable!

Bob L — Google review

Those have kids must visit this place. We enjoyed the car safari the most.Boat safari was not a special thing to do given the long waiting time, you can walk instead.

Bashar K — Google review

We loved the Night Safari. It was beautiful and the prettiest lights we’ve seen. We came right at 5:00 on a Sunday night so it was busy. There are staff directing parking so that’s nice. I recommend coming later after 5:00 so it’s not so congested. When we left around 6:30, it wasn’t crowded at the gate at all. We walked through the whole thing in an hour. There are food and drink booths in the middle of the loop, and there is the Winterplein at the beginning/end with more food and drinks. We had warm waffles and hot dogs (not bratwurst) and it was decent. There were also frites and snacks booths.

So lovely place to spend time with a family 😍A lot of animal babies, different ways to observe the park - boat, car, walking by yourself.I believe, in summer it will be even more comfortable to visit this place.

Kseniia F — Google review

A great place for one days trip. Children will love it. Do take the Safari either by there bus or your own car. Seeing a cheetah walk across my car was the best moment for me.

N ( — Google review

The zoo is well maintained. There are a lot of activities, for example boat tour, car safari, playgrounds etc.I found the variety of animals a little less.

Ryan — Google review

There are four ways to see this park. With foot, with boat or with vehicle. If it is very hot weather it is hard to go with foot especially in midday. The other option is boat. You have to be well 20 minutes in advance in the row to be able to get in. In the boat ride we saw animals from very far away and tour was shorter than our waiting time. One of the boats were also not working. If you not doing safari with your own car the other option is either the bus or game drive. However you cannot use the bus if you did not reserved it with your group. For game drive, you have to reserve it well early in the day or the day before and pay extra money (half of the entry price). The game drive lets you approach a bit more close to animals. I am still not sure if its worth it.Around evening the weather was suitable to walk again. However we still missed some animals since they are sleeping. These points may be applicable to safari parks in general and not specific to beekse bergen. In any case, I don't think the price worth it for me.

Süheyl K — Google review

We had an amazing time here! Explored the park in 3 different ways and saw most of the animals, was incredible!Definitely recommend! It’s fun not only for kids but also for adults.

A very nice place to spend time with your family. A bit of long distances to get sometimes from one place to another, due to the size of the entire resort/safari, but I would not consider it that big of a problem. Enjoyable night light safari show, walking around with amazing light structure.

Loris C — Google review

Beekse Bergen Zoo offers an unforgettable adventure! From thrilling safaris to up-close encounters with majestic wildlife. Impeccably maintained habitats and knowledgeable staff ensure an enriching experience. A must visit.

Steven S — Google review

We stayed at Beekse Bergen in a Giraffe House. The kids loved staying onsite. The park itself is well laid out and spacious. The bus safari was enjoyable, but unfortunately we understood nothing as it was in Dutch (obvs not their fault) but our kids got quite bored as a result. The playgrounds scattered around the park were amazing. There was a great selection of snacks and cafes. All well priced too. We spent a full day there and the kids had a blast. We would highly recommend Beekse Bergen to families with young children.

We had a fun time here! Started with the Car Safari and then did the Walking Safari. Lots to see with enclosed animals as well as free roaming. There were a few empty enclosures and some were closed due to repairs/renovations. We (3 adults) spent about 4 hours doing the safari's and having lunch.

Beer and ale brewed on the site of a Trappist monastery, with guided tours, tastings and gift shop.

💚💚💚 Highly recommended 💚💚💚Simply grateful to visit this vibrant green place on a beautiful sunny day! 😊 The instructor, Tony, is hilarious and kept everyone laughing. 😄I’m delighted to have learned the story behind the bottle of beer, adding depth to the experience of drinking. ☺️I chose the Quadrupel, the highest in alcohol percentage, and it did not disappoint. Absolutely loved it! 🍻Biking around the brewery was also fantastic. I loved all the green vibes. 😊

Emily — Google review

All the place is beautiful, the tour is really complete and explains everything, what is necessary to became a Trappist beer, how it is make, how the abbey works…There is now a limited edition with another brewery, the Brewdog, that is 10% ABV.

Ada F — Google review

Stunning location. Tour was great, Tony is one funny guy. Amazing beer garden, and the food was delicious, particularly the bitterballen, and their in house baked bread and aged cheese. The Isid’or beer was sensational

Rob M — Google review

If you are in The Netherlands, in Tilburg or Breda, you have to visit this craft brewery, there is a tour of the facilities and at the end there is a beer tasting, it is a very good experience and the beers are very tasty.

Joanna L — Google review

Amazing place. If you are here first time I recommend the guided tour. Both restaurant and a gift shop are great.

Marek — Google review

We visited La Trappe and did the tour and lunch after. We had a reservation ahead of time and glad we did as I believe the tour was full. The tour is a great way to learn about the monastery and brewery operations. And a way to see a little behind the scenes. And after learning quite a bit you get a beer! I didn’t know that the keg/draft and bottled beers were different and it was cool to get to compare them (and even better at the source). The tour guide was funny and informative. The restaurant is large with a good amount of seating inside and out. The menu has many tasty sounding dishes. The food was good not great. The mustard served with my cheese plate was probably my favorite thing. There is a store onsite that sells way more things that I was expecting. Along with the glasses and beer, they sell chocolate, honey, the tasty mustard, soaps and lotions, and cheese.Overall it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in beer or a lunch in pretty setting.

If you're interested in beer, history, and charity with no boundaries, then I would highly recommend visiting here. They offer tours in English in the morning where you learn the history of the monks, get to witness their brewing and bottling operation, and then experience it for yourself at the end of the tour. Our tour guide was friendly, jovial, knowledgeable, and a perfect host during our time there. I regrettably forget his name, but he was a gentleman. The weather was perfect, so we sat outside their tasting room in the beer garden and sampled their fantastic menu of food and drinks. I cannot recommend this place enough and don't forget to visit their gift shop for all kinds of handmade products.

Very tasty food, people are very quick and polite compared to other reviews. And the beer is simply very, very tasty. It's a shame they didn't have all the varieties. We would have liked to try the Bock and the non-alcoholic. Tip: You can also buy beer in the monastery shop and you can also find very interesting souvenirs there.

Grigorios E — Google review

Beautiful place, awesome beer but poor service. We waited 10 minutes while there were only few tables and no one ordering. Waitress saw us but chose not to service until we complained about it outside. Also this place closes at 7pm. We were there at 6pm, so 1 hour to close, but we were told nothing to eat can be ordered except nuts. We were supposed to have our dinner here… Its a pity that this awesome brewery has a poorly managed proeflokaal.

Arvin B — Google review

Second time here. And I’ll always come back. The place is beautiful, the tour is very interesting, the food is delicious and the beer… oh, the beer… ❤️ I recommend the tour and the bitterbalen (traditional Dutch croquete). And don’t miss the store. Amazing!!!

Isabella F — Google review

We stopped in on a day they weren't running English tours but were immediately made welcome in the tasting room. My partner enjoyed sampling several of the beers and, as the driver, I was pleased to find a good selection of non alcoholic alternatives on offer too. The beer was so good we stayed for lunch so a few more could be sampled! Will have to come back on a day there are tours as I'd love to learn more about the history of this beautiful place.

Samantha D — Google review

Beautiful place for a brunch! Good variety of beers and food; an advice, it is better if you book the tickets for the tour in advance (2 days). They have one tour in English as well. Service was good for one server, he was always asking if we were ok, checking in the table - while the others were more into talking between them and avoiding customers.

Alexander D — Google review

The excursion of the on-site brewing facilities is a must for beer, specifically Trappist beer, lovers :)) get ready to be charmed by the light-hearted humor of the tour guide and settle in for some top notch food and snacks.Note: Only one English tour per day. Book in advance to avoid surprises ;)

Ida R — Google review

Great to learn the process of Trappist Brewery, It was so insightful to know the history and dedication of the Monks ! Testing the beer after the tour was also lekker !! Tour guide was very interactive and expressive ! We ended with some la trappe isid'or and some yuy snacks at the restaurant..

The place is very pretty and very well marked. We went in winter but it must be glorious in summer. We will go again for the 10 km walk. Lots of dog owners there and families.

Charming forest with plenty of water bodies along walking trails, cycling paths and horse riding tracks. Parking spaces are available at different places. The area is well managed by natuurmonumenten.nl

Beautiful place for walking and cycling. There was plenty of paths that my mother could use her mobility scooter on enabling her to join us on our walk.

Lovely mixed forest interspaced with some small lakes. Plenty of well signposted walking or cycling routes. BlackBerry bushes can be found in summer for a quick snack. Dotted around are several restaurants for food and drinks, like 'Boshuis Venkraai', 'Klein Speik', and 'Groot Speik'. You can alsof rent pedal cars at 'Piet Plezier' to take a nice trip around the forest.

Nature & Parks

The Loonse and Drunense Duinen National Park, also known as the Brabant Sahara, is a vast natural area located between Tilburg and Den Bosch. Spanning over 3,500 hectares, it features sand dunes, forests, and heathland. This unique landscape allows visitors to witness natural sand drifts, making it one of the last places in Europe where this phenomenon occurs. The park offers numerous hiking and cycling paths for outdoor enthusiasts to explore.

Wel nog een ree gezien in het afgezette middengedeelte.(Translated by Google)Walked here today in a bit too hot weather. Fortunately it had rained yesterday which made walking in the sand a little easier.Beautiful vast plains with views. I found few flowers, except for a rare dandelion and the heather, which is not yet in bloom. It was wonderfully quiet, just a pity again from those terrible mountain bike trails that cross the hiking trails.A deer was seen in the cordoned off middle section.

I am really glad that there is such a large nature park near me. I always took buckets and shovels with me with my son; you don't have a larger sandbox. And for myself, it's always nice to walk, take in the fresh air and collect my thoughts. On the edges of this park are several hotels, campsites and eateries where you can spend the night or where you can take a break from what you were doing. You can walk, mountain bike, cycle, walk your dog, horseback riding, etc. in the nature reserve. There are special routes for mountain bikers, cycle paths for cyclists, hiking trails for walkers and bridle paths for those who ride horses.I have been coming here so often since I was little and hope that it will remain free to visit. It cannot be the case that only the rich will soon be able to enjoy this beautiful nature. Are you around here? Then this area is definitely recommended!NB! Arrived early afternoon on Monday 5th of August.Spent 2 hours wondering around in a anti-clockwise direction-passing through the sand, then the woods then back to the open sandy areas,on the way saw a huge Heron, take flight, and in some of the backwaters/bracken areas- two different coloured/species of baby frogs. The sun was at its most baking hot,so walking in the woods not just the open sandy areas is recommended. Monday saw fewer people than normal? it felt like our own discovery. Took a dog, plenty of room to be let off the leash while still leaving lots of trials and space to walk for those not keen on dogs. Stopped at the restaurant for a much needed-fair priced drink afterwards.Would happily go back this fabulous park.

Das allerbeste ist aber das Hunde auf großen Flächen einfach frei laufen dürfen. TOP(Translated by Google)Absolute must if you are nearby. You feel like you're in the outback or a bit of the Sahara. Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Netherlands, showcases the historical water management system and Dutch innovation. The 18th-century windmills stand as a symbol of the country's resilience against flooding in the low-lying Alblasserwaard region. Visitors can explore the site for free, walking along footpaths and capturing picturesque moments.

We bought the all inclusive tickets and parked at the designated area 15’ away - very pricey BUT the ticket also covers the fee for a bike rental which makes the whole experience complete! Cycling along the water channels is really awesome! The visit of the 2 windmills from inside is well worth the visit! We took the panorama boat but the view was really beautiful!

CPS V — Google review

Really nice famous sight in the Netherlands which is worth seeing! However, keep in mind that transportation is a bit of a challenge as you should make a few changes if you come by public transport. Also, the ticket is around 16 euros and includes boat, windmill entrance and museum buildings. There isn't a separate ticket just for the windmills or just for the boat. If you want to save some money bring your own food as there aren't any shops close to the sights and just one cafe. Overall, it is a really nice sight. Keep in mind the strong wind!

Martin Z — Google review

Always one of the places you are told you must visit in the Netherlands but the local Dutch call it "too touristy". Really cool to see the history of the windmils as well as life how it used to be in the past. The only downside is it was around 19 euros to go to 2 museum and value wise it totally was not worth it. I understand the money is used to keep up the sites, preserve the history, etc but when it comes to straight value, it should have been priced at 8-10 euros. Overall nice bike path and walking paths as well.

Josh B — Google review

Great UNESCO site. The wind mills are beautiful and the museum is nice. The app to listen to the explanations doesn't work properly, but it helps. You can rent a bike at the entrance near the waterbus stop, but be prepared they're probably the worst bike you'll ever ride.

😉(Translated by Google)A nice place to walk. Entrance and parking are totally overpriced. We didn't buy a ticket, we just walked around and looked at the mills from the outside. Recommended! The water bus ride there and back was also great and cheaper than parking. 😉

Osnabrückerin S — Google review

I have been to Kinderdijk several years ago and wanted to come back again and spend more time here. We arrived after 5pm when everyone was gone and the parking space was empty and free. We took the bus from Rotterdam to Kinderdijk which took us approx. 40 minutes ride. The weather was great with blue skies and no clouds, just a bit of wind AND no tourists.....except us!!. This place is magical and it costs nothing to walk along the river and watch the windmills. I am not sure if the mills still turn like in Zaanse Schans, but it was still magical, calm and a completely opposite site and view compared to bustling Rotterdam with its modern architecture. I could spend hours here just watching the mills and the landscape and taking pictures. The best time is to come at sunrise, or when the sun is setting. We were a bit too early, but the photos turned out great.

Marc S — Google review

I have been there twice, it is a lovely place to walk and enjoy the windmills. It is free and you can access by water bus, bycicle, car of city bus. If it is too windy, make sure to go prepared. ( Better to go on sunny days)

Fernanda M — Google review

I was there on a Friday afternoon, there were no people at all, only cyclists rarely passed by. This is a great place to just get high, you can see the oldest mill in the Netherlands, as well as walk along the beautiful streets near the canal. There are 19 windmills in total, which are considered a UNESCO heritage. Very unusual, I recommend.

Irchik A — Google review

Really enjoyed my time here. We drove into the area and there was parking available at EUR9.50. The parking is located next to a souvenir shop which provided bicycles for rent. From there it was a direct access to the windmills. Stunning sight and definitely worth the time to get there. Certainly do drop by on a nice day.

Alex S — Google review

Nice place to visit, even it deserves to come from Amsterdam as a day trip plan. You can go through the site without ticket but if you want to visit inside of the mills and have chance to take a ferry you should buy ticket. Price of ticket is about 18 euro. It has cafe, souvenir shop, toilet and parking lots. Enjoy nature, beauty, creativity and engineering there. Don't forget to ask leaders to tell you the function of the mills.

Mahdi M — Google review

If you are in Amsterdam and intent to see the windmills, I would suggest a visit to Zaanse Schans. Kinderdijk is almost 45 minutes from Rotterdam by public transport. This place is unique because it has maximum number of windmills.

Shajid B — Google review

Windmills in the Netherlands are a unique symbol closely tied to the nation's development history. The first windmills appeared in the 13th century, primarily used for grinding grain and pumping water to prevent flooding. Constructing windmills required advanced techniques and the effort of many skilled craftsmen. With intricate designs and large blades, windmills could effectively convert wind energy into mechanical power. Notably, the Kinderdijk area, home to 19 ancient windmills, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, showcasing the Dutch people's creativity and skill in water management. The beauty of Dutch windmills lies not only in their unique design but also in the serene and picturesque landscapes of vast green fields. Windmills have become cultural icons, attracting millions of tourists from around the world.

The windmills of Kinderdijk are very pretty, historic, and elegant along the canals of the Netherlands. Great tour by our guide / volunteer Jos. Loved the walking areas, and there was a canal boat option we did not take.

Eric E — Google review

This is our first time to this part of Europe and we were very pleased that 75 years ago the Queen decided to maintain the cultural heritage of the area and find the government funds to maintain and not tear down the old windmills.More interesting was the fact that families of up to 15 would live inside each of the mills! Fun fact: when going at full speed the sales of the mill are going at about 90 mi an hour.Worth the stop and the people were fabulous. Make certain that you bring a credit card as no cash is accepted.

Very easy to walk around even though some people don’t follow the signage about bike lane vs walking. They had a small strawberry stand and stroopwaffles outside the store which was great to try out. Only need a ticket to visit the museums and windmills.

This is a unique place, a Unesco heritage site with the highest concentration of windmills in the Netherlands. There are 19 windmills located side by side along the canals. In the past they used to pump water from the polders into the canals. You can enter two of them to see the interior, get a boat ride to enjoy the view from the water, and watch an informative movie. There is a caffee and souvenir shop. You will need 2-3 hours to fully enjoy the beauty and serenity of this place. It is accessible from Rotterdam by a boat.

Highlight of my trip to Rotterdam! We caught the waterbus from Erasmus Bridge for 14€pp. We enjoyed walking the trails and taking in the scenery. It was a lovely, calm day away from the bustle of Rotterdam. We purchased pfofferjes? from a man with a small cart on the walk for 3.5€ for 9 pieces. They were delicious. Drinks were also sold starting at 1€! Great value for a snack. There is no fee to walk the trails at Kinderdijk only to enter the historic bldgs. This is a great daytrip!

It's such a lovely place for a walk or biking when it's sunny and the crystal blue sky combines perfectly with the water. The staffs here are all friendly and the whole area is maintained pretty well. Love the place.

We visited the Kinderdijk windmill complex near Rotterdam on a rainy day. Approximately half of the windmills were operational, and visitors could enter two of them. Despite the poor weather, there were many visitors. Due to the extensive grounds, there was no crowding. The parking lot is located about 800 meters away near the ferry terminal.

Eric J — Google review

The most spectacular scenery in the Netherlands 💖🏞️. This is the place where you can admire the most famous traditional windmills. The views where the windmills combine with the blue sky, greenish grasslands and crystal clear water are gorgeous. Kinderdijk is a must-visit place in Netherlands.*Definitely recommend you to choose the day with the best weather to come and cycling is the perfect option to enjoy this lovely place*Compare to Zaanse Schans, Kinderdijk has much fewer visitors and less commercialise. It is the better place for you to enjoy the nature with the windmills .

Lau S — Google review

Really beautiful place but need to walk for long way or else you can rent a bike or bicycle to see those views. Each windmill gives different experience and each place gives different vibes. Overall great place . We can take sooo many good photos and place gives different angle and different size of windmill so we can enjoy the whole few without fail. But there they had few food court and very few food items so better take so good and drink with you so you can eat and walk for that long without getting tired. Boat service also available. We can go inside some windmill houses and they can see some rare things and items they used a long time ago like wooden shoe and thread mill and mechanism of wind mill and current production . Had a good and new experience . Luckily had so many wallpaper pics than expected 😹😹

Firstly you can definitely visit this wonderful site for free. Parking is available within approx 5-600m (again free) then walk to the entrance where you are able to simply walk in and enjoy any of the footpaths and photo opportunities etc.You just cannot go into the museum or either of the two working windmills, but as we had already been inside others this wasn't an issue for us.We were able to entee the film show explaining the makeup of the site, as well as one of the old pumping buildings. There are 19 remaining windmills with only two working as part of the Kinderdijt experience.Should you want to visit all aspects then park and use the shuttle bus €9.50 and weekday entrance tickets cost €18/p. Plus allow a minimum of 2hrs preferably 4hrs for your visit.Highly recommended 👍

We visited during winter of 2023 on boxing day. This is a unesco site with 19 fully functioning windmills and it’s a perfect place for families and friends to experience the cultural heritage of the netherlands. Opens at 10:30 so you can take the 10:00 water bus from rotherdam. This is an outdoor area which can get very windy so makesure to wear enough clothing. The site includes 2 windmill musuems, one boat musuem, a boat tour and a musuem about the history with a short 11 minute film. Very worth your time and money as we came here specifically from a cruise ship. Learned quite a lot of the ingenuity of the ditch and how they make the windmills work. There’s a cafe and souvenir shop at the ticket office near the entrance but i recommend you bring some pack lunch.

Anthony C — Google review

A really beautiful place to visit. It was interesting learning about how the windmills function and what their purpose is. We had a wonderful tour guide who knew a lot about how to maintain and operate the windmills. If you get the opportunity to go inside the one windmill open to the public, take it! So interesting seeing the inside. There is a restaurant here and a very nice gift shop. Lots of opportunities for beautiful pictures.

Very nice area to walk and explore. Two mills are open for tours and boat trips are also available. Admission is not cheap, but justified for the preservation of these beautiful mills.

Impressive, it's like traveling back in time. The visit is well organises with boats (needs ticket) or can be dove waking along the river for free.A parking and a shuttle service is provided with additional payment, but I recommend to check up to the end of kinderdijk: many free parkings are available and close enough to the entrance of the site.

Nicolo B — Google review

The windmills are well preserved history. Really cool to see them in person still in working condition. Interesting to learn how they were used to pump water out of the below sea level reclaimed land.

Perfect Inmersive Dutch Experience. Combining bicycle ride, channels and wind Mills... Loved it.In addition to that, if you don't want to spend money ( and support this Heritage Site maintenance) You can access for Free to the main Path and walk along the Windmills.

The Erasmus Bridge is a famous, 800-meter long suspension bridge that spans the River Nieuwe Maas in Rotterdam. Designed by Ben van Berkel, the bridge is often used as a symbol of Rotterdam and has been nicknamed The Swan.

Nice place for taking photos next to a huge constructed bridge. The most amazing is the view of ships and boats passing through the river. It is one of the largest ports in Europe. Actually it has captured me than Hamburg port in Germany. The skyline is also breathtaking. You take a brunch near the coastline and enjoy the view. However, it is a bot cold at night so take a jacket.

Reem E — Google review

It's a very beautiful bridge specially at the time of sunset when the sun shines on it from one side. Watch the boats and merchant ships pass under the bridge, watch the giant cruise ship that's parked just near the bridge are some of the activities you could do to spend time on it.

Pranesh D — Google review

The best sunset spot in Rotterdam. You can’t go wrong with some snacks and a beer. Walk along the waters edge and take in a little bit of nature inbetween the urban landscape that surrounds you. Truly a magnificent architectural structure to admire.

Great bridge, it takes me from one side of the river to the other in style. The new bird and rainforest sounds are a great addition. By the way, I saw a man climbing up, is this an experience? I could not find the information online 🌉

The Erasmusbrug, or Erasmus Bridge, is an architectural marvel and a defining symbol of Rotterdam. Completed in 1996, this striking cable-stayed bridge spans the Nieuwe Maas River, connecting the northern and southern parts of the city. Known for its distinctive asymmetrical pylon, often referred to as "The Swan" due to its elegant, sweeping shape, the Erasmusbrug combines functionality with stunning design. It's a vital artery for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, offering breathtaking views of Rotterdam's skyline and bustling waterways. The bridge's innovative engineering and modern aesthetic make it a must-see landmark, embodying the dynamic spirit and forward-thinking ethos of Rotterdam. Whether viewed during the day or illuminated at night, the Erasmusbrug is a testament to contemporary Dutch architecture and a proud symbol of the city's resilience and growth.

Very unimpressive bridge. I understand that the design looks cool but the length and scale of the bridge is not worthy of the high reviews on Google. If you’re in Rotterdam and happen to see it then that’s all you need, don’t try and go out of your way to see it if you’re a tourist.

The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is a prestigious art museum located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. It holds a remarkable collection of paintings, sculptures and other arts from the medieval period until the 21st century. Highlights include works by renowned masters such as Rubens, Rembrandt, Monet, Degas and Van Gogh.

An incredible piece of art!We only passed by on our last day in Rotterdam, yet it was one of the most exciting places we had seen during our trip. It is mind blowing to look at and you only understand it when you’re actually there. Pictures are not enough.

Expected a Depot, but is really is a museum. We enjoyed the tour with Sonja very much. She is so enthusiastic and a joy to listen to.More than enough to see if you are interested. Not for small kids.A good restaurant and amazing roof garden with an overview of Rotterdam.

I couldn’t get tickets to enter, but went to see it from outside and at night they have nice illuminations on the floor, and the architecture and door details was great to appreciate without entering the building though.

After 8:30 guard can let you on the rooftop for free. There are restaurant and nice view point. You can watch cool light show after sunset near by entrance.

Boijmans is great. It's modern, different and makes you think. The building itself is worth a picture and it also offers a great view from the rooftop and the possibility for a coffee and something nice. Do make reservations beforehand online.

Almeqdad A — Google review

My family and I had a delightful visit to Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, which proved to be an enriching and educational experience for all of us. The museum's architecture is a marvel in itself, with the mirrored façade reflecting the dynamic Rotterdam skyline, creating a futuristic and inviting presence in the city. Inside, the art collections were impressive, featuring a wide array of masterpieces from old master paintings to modern and contemporary art, as well as decorative arts and industrial design. Bear in mind that most of the exhibits are stored and cannot be seen!We particularly enjoyed the interactive exhibits that provided deep insights into the preservation and restoration of artworks. It was fascinating to learn about the different climate zones within the depot and how they cater to the varied needs of different types of art. The guided tour was a highlight, offering us a behind-the-scenes look at the museum's operations, which was both informative and engaging. The museum's approach to displaying art, including the use of Lina Bo Bardi’s ‘glass easels’ to show the front and back of paintings, was innovative and provided a unique perspective on the artworks. This transparency in showcasing the provenance and history of the pieces added depth to our understanding and appreciation of the art.Overall, Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is not just a museum but a living, working building where art is actively cared for and studied. Our visit was not only enjoyable but also left us with a greater appreciation for the art and the stories behind each piece.

Robin R — Google review

We were hurrying and didn’t have enough time (will return 😊)Very interesting to visit, but very crowded. Some masterpieces make you breathlessAnd modern art is impressive & interesting! But most of all I was impressed by corridor of rooms with artworks - it’s really shake your brain))))Nice & interesting place to visit!

Kateryna M — Google review

This museum is closed for years now, and it will remain closed for years to come (no reliable planning, lack of funding, corrupion). The recent reviews here are in fact about the futuristic Depot (the storage of the works of art, most of them not on view) and NOT about the museum.

Douglas K — Google review

Great experience! Absolutely stunning building, their expositions are well thought through. They have a good selection of old Dutch masters.Staff is very friendly and helpful and everything is in descriptive English for non Dutch speakers.Amtosphere is great, only walking through the building and their pavilion is worth the trip. They also occasionally have some pop up expo in their garden.Wheelchair accessible

Tim D — Google review

Don’t recommend to visit. It looks like a bad joke: there are famous paintings but you couldn’t see it due to it’s a storage. Only some of them in “highlights”. It’s hard to describe the disappointment. If it’s a museum, IKEA is a museum too.

Modern-day cube houses in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, were designed by Piet Blom in the early 70s. The unusual dwellings are perched on pillars and offer an interesting living experience, as well as being a safe community away from the bustle of city life.

Really amazing architecture! Definitely great photo op! Went there just to take pictures, but apparently I didn’t do enough research to know that you can actually go inside the one of them, so yeah don’t make my mistake.

I had the opportunity to visit Cube House in Rotterdam, and even though I didn't explore the interior, the exterior alone left a lasting impression with its remarkably unique architecture. I highly recommend taking the time to visit the area and soak in the striking design. For those curious to delve deeper, you can step inside the house for a mere 3 euros, offering a chance to experience its intriguing interior firsthand.

Jamie — Google review

It is interesting to observe the houses, but in my opinion, it is not really a surprise how the houses work. However the interior is nice. You are charged €3 for visiting a house. Some housea are private houses or offices that are not open for the public. As far as thw concept is concerned, it is interesting

undoubtedly one of the most unique housing developments you will ever see, in the Netherlands and in the world. it’s free to wander around at your leisure, €3 to enter one of the houses and take a little tour. well worth the small price. gives you a fascinating look into how exactly you’d live in one of these houses. also ends up making a very nice pedestrian bridge over one of the busiest roads in rotterdam and you can watch the traffic go by. pretty cool at night

Nico T — Google review

Nice place to take pictures. Can pay 2€ (3€ for normal) to see the inside of the cube (not a definitely to go in but cool to check out as well). Also a hostel as well!

Ra W — Google review

Cool to see how people would live in these houses and definitely answers that question.I do believe that they could've styled the interior design more homely so that you don't have to guess how people would actually use certain spaces that weren't obvious like the kitchen and bedroom. Sort of how IKEA displays small rooms fully furnished.

It is kinda funny to walk through the kubus museum or rather kubus house and see the inside. But it is still a house. If you like architecture it might be interesting or for tourists. Otherwise just watch the pictures on internet. Its 3,- for adults and it takes about 5-10 min to see it including your own pictures.

Really funny, Visits are possible, from the inside it actually looks quite normal, only the ceilings look like roofs, everything is very well maintained, I was there to take photos. Insanely nice people there - absolutely worth recommending.

Andreas B — Google review

Really astonishing architecture!Definitely great photos taking location!I live near by it and it's always a great walk around the place to appreciate one of the iconic locations with amazing design in Rotterdam!

Ahmad — Google review

It’s rather a lifetime opportunity to see one from inside, to not be disappointed do not expect too much, as it’s not a museum. It seems the owner lives there, so the experience is more like visiting a friend’s house for the first time than visiting a museum exhibition. If it’s crowded inside just wait a bit ‘cos people get in and out constantly. For EUR 3 it was a good experience, the tickets are available on the spot.

Mateusz W — Google review

Super cute place with the architecture!!! Would definitely recommend to visit when in Rotterdam. Get a coffee or some food down at the little cute old harbour or visit the one open example cube apartment to see how people actually live in those cube houses.Food places in Rotterdam are amazing and the entire city is very beautiful.

This is a very nice location for some pictures. Not many people now but you can literally stay in one of this cube houses which happens to be a hostel. I highly reccomend to try this. It might not be expensive

Visited on a TuesdayCube houses are fascinating, make sure you walk up the step into the middle courtyard.A cube house is open for visitors 3 euros pp.There was a massive street market on Tuesday Also, visit the indoor market.

Julie S — Google review

This was a must-see for me. As i couldn't figure the layout in my mind. Only 3 euros to have a look inside one. Which put it all into perspective for me. A very minimal way of living that would really work as they have everything needed for a comfortable lifestyle. Nice little gift shop on site too.

Tina R — Google review

It’s indeed some odd but creative structural buildings. Steep staircases and limited indoor space on each floor make difficult imaginations of moving larger furnitures or appliances in and out of the house. Interesting to see one but don’t want to have one.

Huang S — Google review

Visited the cube houses in Rotterdam and for €3 you can take a look inside. They are very strange! The top floor had an incredible view all the way down to the street below! Very clever design. Well worth going to see if you are excited by architecture!

Great place and quite atypical. We went there for a short walk and it's quite impressive to see the architecture of these houses. Looks like the houses don't seem right inside.Possibility of visiting a house from the inside for the price of 3€/p.

Cool apartments in middle of Rotterdam downtown. Strange architecture worth seeing at least one time. You can see one of the apartments from inside for a ticket of 3€ per person. From inside it looks much bigger from outside with nice views of downtown but nothing astonishing.

Très impressionnant ! La visite de la maison témoin nous laisse un peu sur notre faim car les aménagements sont minimes... Agréable visite(Translated by Google)Very impressive ! The visit to the show house leaves us a little unsatisfied because the fittings are minimal... Pleasant visit

Visiting the Cube House Kijk-Kubus Museum in Rotterdam was intriguing, even without going inside due to the admission fee and queues. The exterior, designed by Dutch architect Piet Blom, features tilted, cube-like structures on steel pylons, creating a striking visual impact. The houses resemble an abstract forest, each representing a tree. Simply admiring the innovative architecture from the outside was captivating, surrounded by the vibrant atmosphere around the cube houses, which also over looks the pier area.

Ribeye — Google review

Different designed house and they have different design furnitures.Number 70 house is for tourist visit others are not. People are living there.3 € entry fee per person, you can get ticket when you arrive there in entrance.

Onur’s G — Google review

Interesting building and architecture. There are some places that you really need to see with your own eyes as pictures don’t do it justice. This place is not one of those. Having seen all the pictures on the internet, there was really very little that was captivating in person.

Ali E — Google review

Euro 3 per person to go indoors one of the cube houses. Well worth the entry fee to see the three floors top one was very warm. Bedroom was alot cooler and the bottom lounge area was great to see

Chantry H — Google review

"kubuswoningen" in various cities in the Netherlands. Anyone on their way to Rotterdam can a visit.✅The entrance fee is reasonable (€3, €1.5).❌The area where it is located is Zone-21, which means €5.94/hour for parking.✅The surrounding Old Port is also a must-see.

Serkan K — Google review

A must do in Rotterdam! Very nice experience. Payed 2€ with the student discount. Without it, the entrance fee is 3€. It is fascinating how small the houses are. You can only visit one of them since the others are residential houses. The staff was very nice and the lady at front told us very interesting details about the place while we were waiting. It can have a huge line but don't let it discourage you, since it is totally worth it and the waiting time is not that long.Near the house, there are nice shops where you can buy souvenirs at a cheaper price.

Inês — Google review

Tickets can be bought on the spot. Unique architecture but the staircase is narrow, so people travelling with elderly should be aware. The cube house is rather small but overall an interesting experience. Also, I went on a Monday and it is open unlike what is stated on Google.

Q T — Google review

Visiting the Cube Houses in Rotterdam was an absolute delight. The striking design and innovative architecture make them a must-see attraction in the city. Located close to the iconic Market Hall, you can easily visit both places at once, maximizing your experience in Rotterdam. While exploring the exterior and interior may only take a short time, the experience is unforgettable. Whether you're a design enthusiast or simply curious about unique architecture, a visit to the Cube Houses is well worth it.

Anushri G — Google review

Free to look from the outside, and they look fab. cheap to go in but you couldn’t move. Too many people allowed in at once, stairs were a concern as people trying to get up and down at the same time.

Susan B — Google review

An interesting and eye opening piece of architecture. It is not spacious but you must get inside to have a genuine sense of what it is like to live there.

Raymond T — Google review

These wonderful building we're designed in 1977 by piet blom. Fortunately for the curious of us, house 70 is a museum and open to the public at the charge of €3 for adults and €2 for seniors and students. Although it won't take long to look around, they are definitely worth a look for the curious of you. Radiators hang at odd angles and furniture is fitted to the odd shape walls and maximise the space. A fascinating place to visit but not for everyone would they be a viable living space.

Kevin M — Google review

Unique structuralist architecture in the heart of Rotterdam. Piet Blom designed to be like a cathedral where you look up so the pillars are the tree trunks and the cubes themselves are the treetops. People actually live there so good to be quiet as one roams the grounds. Some units even have a patio area. One unit is reserved as a paid museum. Must see in Rotterdam.

IOQ Y — Google review

An interesting, colourful and nice place to visit in Rotterdam. I had to purchase a ticket €3 to satisfy my curiosity of what it feels like to be/live inside the cubes, and I wasn’t disappointed. I loved every moment spent inside the cube and I definitely recommend. It’s centrally located within the city with the tram station and shopping centres just a couple of feet away.

Kay — Google review

The cube houses in Rotterdam are an architectural marvel that truly captivated me. Their unique design is both innovative and visually stunning, making them a must-see attraction. Exploring the interiors was like stepping into a modern art exhibit, with each cube offering a different perspective and experience. The location of the cube houses is fantastic, situated in the heart of Rotterdam with easy access to other attractions. We also visited a small museum to see what’s inside for €3. It was nice to see how people live there and how ergonomically everything is set inside

Victoria S — Google review

It was still open even though google said otherwise, not that many people. You can for sure get some good pics and spend your time there.Didn’t know this but you can actually rent a place there :)Incredible sight seeing of the city too. VERY centric, must visit

I went here for a draadsierad workshop and I really liked it: creative, intuitive, meditative work in a beautiful environment.

Ksenia B — Google review

We took a tour but it was uninspiring. What was told I could also read on the tablets that where there. Direct questions where avoided or "I dont know you should ask the artist downstairs". I did not get the feeling there was intrinsic motivation to learn more about silver other then was needed to give the tour.Nevertheless the exposition was great and the artist downstairs working on an exposition was also good to talk with.

Steven — Google review

Very disappointing because it is not a museum. It's a gallery and a shop. It displays beautiful pieces but no explanation what so ever about the process from extracting silver until a beautiful piece is born.

Leonor B — Google review

Very disappointed! It's more a shop than a museum. Small rooms with contemporary art, no history at all, the staff speaks English with problems. the "museum" has no map or guide. their workshops for children is - buy and do it yourself as you understand. Parking is a challenge, you don't understand where is it allowed to park unless you ask inside the museum. We just wasted time.

I truly enjoyed my visit to this great museum of silversmiths after a long journey from Amsterdam via Tel Aviv . However , I was put off at the cafe as they ran me down to pay twice for a cup of coffee . I never did feel all that welcome in Dutch silver town , perhaps all Americans are set aside at a distance or maybe my appearance coming out of Israel. I spent hours looking over the great works of art and craftsmanship here and visit the clock factory just down the street- It was closed down but the gentleman welcome me in with delight and took some time to show me around even gave me Clock parts after finding out I was a graduate of Bowman School of Watchmaking. There are great shop here but prices are steep. In my mind very best of quality. My mother’s people are early Dutch. I casted a silver wrench bangle but it broke on the journey due to air bubbles in the casting it was repaired for near 90$ in town. I hope to return someday in better garments and enjoy a meal at a cafe. This museum should forever remain open and the place where silversmith gathering , from around the world.

It's a well taken care of spa, the staff is friendly, it looks extremely clean, smells good everywhere, nice food/bites (a bit on the expensive side but doable).Overall quite a big choice of saunas based on type, temp, etc...Lots of Jacuzzis inside some outside with a split pool that goes outside from the indoors.Good experience, do recommend!

Loved the facilities, the service, the restaurant, the pools, saunas and the whole place! They have a shelf of books and tons of magazines that you can borrow while relaxing or during your sauna breaks. They have an outdoor area for relaxing as well, and I like the bath salts that they put in shower rooms - certainly leaves my skin soft haha! Great place to relax, but if you’re shy, this might be challenging for you (you have to be okay with the no-dress code spa rules).

The De Haar castle is a large, 19th century, medieval-style palace with landscaped gardens that host regular fairs and events. The castle is a popular tourist destination and is home to the Van Zuylen van Nijevelt van de Haar family.

A wonderful place to visit with your family, so many incredible rooms with beautiful furniture, the park outside is also incredible, you can bring your own snacks or you can visit the cafe, you can't take your baby stroller inside, parking is available and you can take photos and videos inside.Well organized staff and you can read the history of every room on the spot on a huge beautiful pamphlet.I strongly recommend you to visit the castle.

I had an great experience visiting Castle De Haar! 🏰✨ Despite the slightly higher costs, the grandeur and beauty of the castle and its surroundings made it well worth it.The sheer size of the castle was huge. Its magnificent architecture and meticulous attention to detail transported me to a bygone era. Exploring the lavishly decorated rooms and expansive gardens was like stepping into a fairytale. The picturesque surroundings added to the enchantment, creating a truly magical atmosphere. 🌳🌷🌞While the ticket prices may be on the higher side, the exceptional quality and maintenance of the castle make it clear why. The staff's commitment to preserving the historical significance and beauty of Castle De Haar is evident in every corner. 📚🗺️Well worth a visit if you are in Utrech or close by. It's a perfect destination for history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and anyone seeking a unique and unforgettable adventure. If you're willing to indulge in a slightly higher-cost experience, I highly recommend exploring the grandeur and charm of Castle De Haar. You won't be disappointed! ✨🏰💫

A true awesome Castle in The Netherlands. Do visit the Garden and the Castle. But most important, it is good to read the history and heritage before you enter the Castle. This gives you a good image of the Castle and the building next to the Castle. This building is still in ownership of the family and they do visit it very often. The garden is beautiful and completed with several small items from the past. Enjoy this view and the environment via the two restaurants and cafe!Enjoy and I will for sure be back to enjoy this place.

The biggest castle in the Netherlands with astonishing gardens! Even though I visited here on a rainy summer day, it was a peaceful walk through the gardens. I was not super impressed by the interior, the kitchen looks dazzling though! The history of the castle is also interesting to read/watch.I find it also pretty easy to reach by public transportation, there is a bus stop right in front of the castle. It is free to visit with the Museumkaart!

Duru E — Google review

This was absolutely magical, I loved every minute of visiting. It would be a 10/10 no matter what - the castle and the interiors are simply breathtaking - but I just wanted to drop by and say CONGRATULATIONS to all the staff, everyone was incredibly warm, welcoming, and excited to share little curiosities and insights about the castle's history. A truly special experience, can't recommend it enough!

Beautiful grounds and castle. Well worth a visit! You can use your museum card to enter. The inside of the castle is beautiful and well maintained. Very informative with lots of hosts in the rooms to tell you more about about it.

Castle De Haar is one of the most beautiful castles I've visited so far in The Netherlands. The architecture is amazing and the surrounding park and lake are breathtaking. The only thing more glamorous is the interior of the Castle, with rich furniture and paintings, with high detailed tapestry and detailed sculptures and knight armors.Everything inside denotes a good taste and a precise attention to details. If you're going to visit Utrecht, this Castle is a must see. There is a big parking close to the castle and you can pay for it when you're buying the visiting tickets.I recommended.

Romeo C — Google review

Incredible castle near Utrecht and Gouda, we went by public transport and it was easy, only few minutes walking from the bus stop. The visit was around one or two hours. Every room has a guide person and also a text in different languages to explain about the room. The visit is worth, i was impressed with the history and how the castle is well maintained.

Fernanda M — Google review

It was really an unexpected great visit. Just for case I drove there and I strongly recommend to go there. Beautiful castle from outside (I haven’t been inside). Entrance to the park is pretty cheap (7€) considering that is huge and you can spend a whole day also enjoying a picnic or relax in the green. Place is somehow magic!

Amazing castle and park which makes you feel like you are inside a fairy tale. There are a lot of things to do around and the history of the castle is pretty interesting. The garden is pretty huge and there is even a maze and a deer park you can visit. I believe this is one of the top visits in the Netherlands.

Altu? B — Google review

The largest castle in the Netherlands. Great architecture, amazing interiors, you would think there would be more to explore inside but it is still impressive. In every room there is information in many languages to read for this is a big plus. Outside is different very beautiful, wonderful gardens and lots of pleacefor walks in the park with photo spots. Parking is also very large and convenient at a cost of 6 euros. The castle can be visited on a museum card. There is also a restaurant on the castle grounds.

Igosus — Google review

A unique visit that must be done by all history and castle lovers! Picturesque landscape that travels visitors to the 1700s! Very well maintained. Both surrounding areas and inside rooms are magnificent.Parking cost is costly for no reason as it offers neither security nor shadow.

A beautiful castle with big lush beautiful gardens and ponds. The moment you enter insider it makes you go to the same era. Beautiful bed rooms, hall ways, galleries, the living area and powder rooms still feel alive. The main hall, roof and walls and magnificent. If you have museum card this is covered. You can enter easily. It is in calm and conent place. The cafe is large but full. The gardens and good to go for a picnic. Highly recommended for visit. The walk space and gardens are large to wear comfortable shoes. Enjoyed the overall experience.

An absolute must see when visiting the central part of the Netherlands. It’s close to Amsterdam and Utrecht. Very large castle, so well maintained and preserved. Also very relaxing walks with lots of benches possible trough the parks and gardens around the castle. The inside of the castle is amazing, don’t forget to visit the gift shop there, and the restaurant is also very yummy (near the entry).

Easy to access by bus, the bus stop is outside the train station. The the bus stops outside the castle (both ways). Seen only the garden which is beautiful, I assume in Spring and Summer will be nicer. There are picnic tables as well.

I loved it, I wish I had more time to walk all over those 17 acres. The castle is impressive and even though not all of it is accessible, the main chambers were really nice and they had staff to provide you with more help.I would definitely recommend visiting this castle if you have a chance. Also we grabbed a bite at their restaurant, the food was ok, nothing special.

What a marvellous day out! Fairy tale style castle set in beautiful grounds. Lots of rooms to visit and view. Excellent placard boards in each room (various languages), expanding on the use of the room over time. One word of caution - access to the castle is a NON starter for any one who needs a wheelchair or walker support.

Nigel D — Google review

Beautiful castle, the gardens are amazing and so impressive to see and of course take pictures of, you would think you are royalty. The inside of the castle and descriptions of every exhibit is very thorough and nicely explained by the tour guides. A must visit!

Cynthia P — Google review

Really more of a country retreat for rich barons than a castle proper, but still impressive and the interior has some beautiful stained glass and other items. The Castle outer building is surrounded by a cool green scum moat, and you have to walk through pretty gardens to get to the Castle proper.Once you're in, you have to go down stairs and around a corner to a pinch point where you have to scan your ticket again for entry. They're quite strict about no bags/backpacks and have free lockers - a bit annoying as every other historical place we've been in Europe has allowed purses (they even said if you have a jacket you have to continue to wear it and can't carry it, ridiculous as it's quite warm as you go through the Castle). Displays are well-described, and they've got a good system of cables/signs for one-way progression through the Castle. Good visit, worth 1-1.5 hours of your time.

Munro S — Google review

Most beautiful castle and gardens. Not possible to get there if you have to rely on public transport, so keep in mind that extra cost will be required to rent a car or hire a taxi.Booking in advance is a good idea - you book a time slot and then don't have to wait to go inside. We booked about 2 weeks in advance. You can easily spend a whole day there - both the residence and the gardens are absolutely magnificent!

The fact that the family comes back yearly to keep up the traditions is great.History is preserved very well. The gardens are well taken care of and it is so peaceful. We had a picnic in the garden. The shop is also well worth a visit as is the restaurant.Well worth a visit.

Absolutely fantastic place! The exterior is impressive and beautiful with water around the castle and lovely gardens. The interior, however, is pure magic. I got Harry Potter vibes more than once. It's colorful, it's majestic. You can really sense how it felt in the old days when people still lived here. Not to mention the small corner with a place to sit and a big window. Just give me a book and I'll never leave! There is also a shop with souvenirs and places where you can eat and easily accessible toilet. I really cannot recommend this place enough! A must-see!Now, a bit about how to get there. I used public transport. Very easy and very well put. Train to Utrecht, then 2-3 stations to Vleuten, from there a couple steps to a bus stop that rides around every half hour and takes you directly to the castle. Recommended to book tickets online in advance, as there are limits to visitors per time frame. However, I was on a Saturday during vacation period and had no problem booking a ticket.

Jarosław M — Google review

Very nice place for a walk, the castle is magnificent and the garden is very peaceful.I don't see why there are such strict limits for inside visits. When we visited we had to wait several hours to be admitted in a slot with available places, at the same time it was not that crowded outside.Depending where you travel from - the public transport to the castle might be a bit of a challenge.

Драгомир Д — Google review

Absolutely stunning architecture! The guides in the castle were also really helpful, with their explanations of the features in the castle. The surrounding park was great to walk with, though it seemed like it wasn’t maintained too well. Deer park was a pleasant surprise too!

A beautiful place with a huge garden to visit. The castle is also worth seeing. Its construction and conversation are remarkable. There are explanations in several languages about the different rooms. It's less busy in the morning, so you can appreciate the castle better. I highly recommend it.

Mónica S — Google review

Absolutely loved it here even though it took me 3 hours to reach it. I only had time to do the castle tour and it was much too rainy and wet for me to explore outside but I’ll have to come back during the warmer weather to do that one day when things are in full bloom. I like that there were free lockers so you didn’t have to lug your bags/coats/umbrellas around too. It’s a self guided tour so you can do it at your own pace and there are big boards in each room that tells you about each room in several different languages along with most rooms having attendants to tell you more information should you so choose. Some of the staircases are quite narrow so you have to be very careful going up and down some of those but I enjoyed learning about the castle and the people who lived there and how they lived. I spent a good 1.5 hours there and only explored the castle. I’m sure you could easily spend 2.5 hours if you took in the grounds/gardens as well.

It's a really wonderful castle in really good condition. Almost every room has Dutch, German, English, and French information about the room. The volunteers are very friendly. Expect to spend about 2 hours in there if you want to see everything in detail. The park is also nice, not many flowers in mid-April. If you want, there is also puzzle solving for the park and the castle.

Kasteel de Haar is the largest castle in the Netherlands. It's fairy-tale-like and in excellent condition both inside and out.I liked the opportunity to see not only the grand halls but also the kitchen, bathrooms, and toilets. The castle is surrounded by an extensive park. The French part is magnificent, it's just that you wish the flowers were already planted in their designated spots. The most interesting part of the English section is the deer.

We visited on a Friday outside school vacation, there was no wait and the place was not crowded at all, it was perfect to enjoy the park and a quiet visit of the castle. It is an interesting visit, the volunteers (guides) clearly enjoy sharing their knowledge and passion, we had a great time.It is a bit pricey for what you get though, and you do not get to see much of the castle (still under renovation), and none of the outbuidlings. I would also recommend going a bit later in the season to be able to enjoy the gardens and park more.

Boris F — Google review

Large and well maintained castle, although it is far more modern than appearances suggest. 12km relaxed ride from the city centre, and worth spending the better part of the day in! The cafe is quite limited so I recommend grabbing a bite at the restaurant instead (you have to exit the ticketed area for the restaurant, but the staff will be happy to let you back in) Tickets essential as people were being turned away as the castle tickets were sold out by the time we entered. The grounds are quite cheap to enter and won't sell out, but I recommend the castle. There is no mobile network inside the castle so the app isn't very useful, but there are multilingual guide sheets in each room and plenty of staff willing to answer questions. Highly recommended!

Nice place to visit. It's easy to reach from the city centre (buses 28 and 111), and the self-tour inside the castle is well sinalised and oriented by friendly employees. The castle was built in the 1300s, but was actively inherited and used all these centuries, so there are a lot of history and details inside. Very well kept. The gardens/park are very beautiful and I believe that in summer it's even nicer, as picnic is allowed. Good to go with all the family.

Lili J — Google review

Extremely well maintained, and the park is great for a walk. The trip there via cycling is also very scenic. Did not go in the museum, but the outside was aesthetic.

Joe — Google review

Its just amazing. In between the forests , you need an entire day if you are planning to come. The castle is well maintained and there are many guided tours available to know about the history. Once done there is a cafe to enjoy hot coffee. Parkings are near by to the castle.

Absolutely beautiful. Get there early. Take train from Amsterdam to Utrecht Central. Reserve Uber for pickup at both locations, return trip. 2 hrs should be enough. Then stroll in Utrecht. Enjoy!

The Museum Voorlinden is an art museum located in The Hague, Netherlands. It is the largest private art collection in the Netherlands and features a wide range of modern and contemporary artworks. Some captivating works of art on permanent display include pieces by world-renowned artists like James Turrell, Richard Serra, Song Dong, and Ron Mueck. The museum also hosts cutting-edge exhibitions that are always colorful, bold, and modern.

I liked the museum! Some interesting artworks.Spend 75 minutes there. Less then Google mentioned as average (2-3 hours).Surroundings of the museum are also nice. You can take a stroll, or get lunch in the neighbouring restaurant. We walked to the beach afterwards (1.5 hour walk)

Rogier J — Google review

Nice gallery, a bit expensive for its small number of pieces, very unique and interesting tho.a great spot for quite a few photo-ops, also has a beautiful garden and hiking paths towards some big sand dunes

J R — Google review

We visited the Ron Mueck exhibition, amongst others, at museum Voorlinden. It lies in a beautiful garden, with a terrace and restaurant. There are two little car parks, but if you come with public transport you'll have to walk about 15 minutes from the bus stop. The museum is light and large, possible to exhibit huge objects. I liked the different, modern art they had on show. At entry, you get a booklet with more information on the art works on display. The ceiling let's in natural light, as do the huge glass walls at the back and sides. There is also a shop with interesting items and memorabilia. We spend 2.5 hours walking around in the museum. It wasn't available on the museum card, but it was worth every penny.

Jacky D — Google review

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. I won't lie and say I know much about modern art but that did not stop me enjoying the museum in full. There are some very interesting and thought provoking exhibitions in an architecturally stunning building. Staff are friendly and helpful and the grounds/gardens surrounding the museum are beautifully done and maintained with expert care. We cycled which was ideal as the weather was lovely, but it is a bit of trek from the nearest bus stop (20 walk), so perhaps it would be best to drive there if bringing kids or older folks!

Clio G — Google review

It is a beautiful museum with a great permanent exposition. The temporary expositions we saw were also very impressive.

Martijn B — Google review

The best museum experience I’ve had anywhere, a shame the museum pass is not usable here and you have to pay for the ticket but honestly it is worth it! Plus the café has a cheesecake that reminds me of my Oma’s recipe :)

Great museum and the whole estate is a nice place visit. Museum is not very big, but enough for a one day balanced experience. Great big expo spaces, friendly atmosphere, some really good art. A good adventure to do, surely worth its cost!

Diana P — Google review

My absolute favourite museum, in maybe the world actually. They change the exhibitions often enough that each time I go there is something new and the museum is curated in such a way that it creates incredible emotion no matter the exhibition. It’s also in a stunning location in Wassenaar.

Brandi B — Google review

This museum was like a dream! I went here for my birthday, and it really lived up to my expectations! The current expositions are very colurful, bold and modern. It truly was a lovely experience to have been here. It felt very minimal and playful at the same time. I can't recommend it enough :)

This incredible place is definitely worth a visit if you’re into modern art. Kind of reminded of me “Depot Boijmans” in Rotterdam. The swimming pool exhibition is crazy and the room with glow in the dark lighting. No need to pre purchase tickets.Taking public transport is easy, it’s only a 5-10 mins walk from the closest bus stop which takes you directly to The Hague central.Go in the morning. Spend the day on the relaxing on the grass after or at the cafe.

Voorlinden is a private museum located in Wassenaar, near The Hague in the Netherlands. It was founded by businessman and art collector Joop van Caldenborgh in 2016. The museum is situated on a beautiful estate in the dunes, providing a picturesque setting for the display of modern and contemporary art.The museum building itself is designed to enhance the art viewing experience. It is an oblong-shaped structure made of variegated dune sand-colored natural stones and transparent glass walls, allowing the surrounding nature to blend with the interior. The building features an elegant white-steel colonnade and a unique roof structure. The interior is divided into three sections, corresponding to the museum's program of collection presentations, changing exhibitions, and permanent in-situ works. The exhibition rooms are illuminated by natural daylight, which enters the building through ingeniously cut tubes, creating a gradual and dynamic lighting effect. To ensure optimal illumination on less sunny days and evenings, a velum and transparent glass roof with integrated LED lighting is used.Museum Voorlinden houses several permanent artworks. Some of these are incorporated into the building itself, such as the Skyspace by James Turrell and the corten steel sculpture Open Ended by Richard Serra. The museum also features works by Maurizio Cattelan, including a permanent installation, as well as the illusionistic Swimming Pool by Leandro Erlich.Additionally, semi-permanent displays include the hyper-realistic Couple under an Umbrella by Ron Mueck and glass sculptures by Roni Horn. Each artwork is presented in its own separate gallery, allowing visitors to fully appreciate them. The Voorlinden Estate has a rich history dating back to Roman times. The name Voorlinden originated in 1584, and during the 17th century, several country estates were established around The Hague, including Voorlinden. In the early 19th century, a park was designed in landscape style by J.D. Zocher and his son.Later, architect R.J. Johnston built the current country house based on the English stately house style, commissioned by Esquire Ir. Hugo Loudon.Landscape architect Leonard Springer redesigned the landscape during the same period, incorporating indigenous and exotic tree species. For the opening of Museum Voorlinden, landscape and garden architect Piet Oudolf was tasked with designing the area surrounding the new building, resulting in a unique blend of 19th-century, 20th-century, and 21st-century landscapes.Visitors to the estate can enjoy the freely accessible woods, dune meadow, and dune areas by following designated footpaths. However, due to the presence of wildlife and birds, dogs are required to be kept on a leash.Museum VoorlindenBuurtweg 902244 AG WassenaarNederland

An amazing location, most certainly worth a visit for their inspiring displays of contemporary artwork. It was pouring with rain the day we visited, we'd taken a train, then a bus, then walked through the storm without an umbrella so it was a joy to dry off in this light and wonderful space. Thoroughly recommend a visit there!

Love this museum. World class contemporary art. Worth going out of your way to see and experience contemporary art. It not too big so you will not be overwhelmed. Great art space.

Amazing. The setting is pastoral and the modern museum building only accents it in a positive way. The modern art installations were exceptional and left us smiling in amazement as only the best art can do. Nice trails on the grounds though the dune area is not recommended if you are not fit. Onsite dining was nice too!

Quirky exposition in many ways thought provoking. A bit pricey but free parking and a nice restaurant. They don't except The museum card!It was better and definitely much more than I expected. Well worth a visit.

The location is off the beaten path but definitely worth the effort. Cool collection of contemporary art installations. The weather wasn't in our favor so we didn't get to walk through the outdoor exhibitions. A great place to spend a day with art.

This is an absolutely magical place in the Netherlands!!!Hardly visited by tourists, as it’s a bit cumbersome to get to from the usual touristy spots, this museum is immersed in an oasis of greenery and lush and filled with wonders.Visit the temporary exhibitions (when we went you could get a tattoo from the artist on the spot!), to the marvellous permanent installations. What an absolutely incredible find!

Visiting Museum Voorlinden was an impulse decision so I did not read up beforehand. I was pleasantly surprised by the art they had on display. I am no art connoisseur but I love photography. So seeing large prints by Rineke Dijkstra was a nice surprise. A very large piece by Andy Warhol, Damien Hurst etc. Pretty impressive. I skipped the Anselm Kiefer. Too heavy for me.I was amused by the boomers trying to be very arty and 'explaining' all the art while looking very serious. Richard Serra's massive steel structure is very impressive. Don't forget to walk up the steps to see it from above. And go to the pool art thing. Look down and then go underneath to look up. The reastaurant is well run, especially since they are currently seven vacancies on the restaurant alone. The pea soup I had is not as good as the one I make but there was nothing really wrong with it either.I'll be back, once they replace mr Kiefer with something more interesting. Still on the expensive side though. The Museumkaart is not accepted here.

This privately owned museum houses a very accessible collection of contemporary art. The building itself make use if the beautifull gardens around. In the old land house houses a restaurant and you can also enjoy a walk in the dunes nearby. We had the pleasure to have the temporary exhibition of Anselm Kiefer...a real mist. There is a tour for kids available as well.

Very impressive museum with modern art. Don’t forget the beautiful gardens designed by Piet oudhof

Michael P — Google review

The museum is 100% worth a visit. The missing star is because we were treated very coldly from from one of the front desk/ gift shop workers. He refused to greet us back or answer us when we spoke to him in English, only answered us in English after we tried speaking to him in German. I don’t expect everyone to speak English, but he was obviously fluent and simply not a fan of being polite to non Dutch speakers. The museum expects and welcomes foreigners/tourists (they have an English brochure/website) so this behavior from a member of staff was quite jarring. Other members of staff in the museum were friendly. Our favorite exhibit was Sigh, by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the surround sound orchestra. I could’ve sat there all day. The museum has a card game for kids as well, to make it more interactive and exciting. There were a lot of kids there when we visited.

One of my favourite places in the Netherlands. Visited the Anselm Kiefer exhibition, which was temporary, they always have new exhibitions on show that are often quite worthwhile.

Jonas B — Google review

Visited here on first day of New Year 2024 with my parent, and lovely sunshine. Lucky us. The building itself has so much better views with sunshine, not to mention the exhibitions. Before and after the tours in the building, a short walk around the area is fantastic. The staff is also very friendly and helpful.Definitely recommend it as a top thing to do on your new year list.

Wonderful museum. The buildings and grounds are by themselves already well worth the visit. However, experiencing the museum and the Anselm Kiefer exhibition is a must. The art is created for the public and for public spaces. Museum Voorlinden is just the place to experience it. I was blown away.

To be found on a discreet side street of Wassenaar is an aesthetic oasis. There is ample parking, go early to void disappointment. The pavilion is 300 meter from the car park. Follow well paved wide path past the restaurant and Martin Creed trees to the entrance. The elegant building is tall and spacious with glass on all sides. There is a library (by appointment only), a temporary exhibition, an excellent permanent collection and concerts once a month on Monday mornings. Admission is €22, no concessions, no Ya Carte.Plan to spend at least 2 hours indoors. Do experience the Turrell Sky Room, the swimming pool, the piano and outdoor sculptures ( another hour at least). Children and babies seemed very welcome. There is a cloak room and lockers. No bags allowed. The gift shop has lots of interesting things for all budgets. Despite it being very busy the staff were very nice and attentive.I cant recommends this impeccable gem highly enough.

Vogelpark Avifauna is a multifaceted destination that offers accommodation, entertainment, and dining options. It's an ideal stop for visitors exploring Amsterdam. The park boasts a diverse range of bird species and other unique animals, including those from Madagascar. Families will appreciate the dedicated play area for kids and the opportunity to participate in feeding demonstrations with lemurs, pelicans, and parrots. Additionally, there are entertaining bird shows featuring impressive stunts.

We easily spent 4 hours at the park and it was a beautiful time! It was so neat being so close to monkeys and birds. They’ve made some very nice & natural new enclosures for some of the birds and monkeys. 👌🏽 The lady looking after the lemurs was very friendly. We had so much fun feeding the birds a special nectar they gave us. 🐦👍🏻

Anna A — Google review

A place full of nature. Would be good to spend the day with the kids. Visiting all of the attraction points in the park would take around 4 hours. Also there is a play ground for the kids where you can spend your kids last energy there. Be sure to bring some extra clothes for your kid and some nibbles, snacks to eat on the way.

Cem A — Google review

Avifauna is a fun park with plenty of different animals, my favourites include the maki, the ostrich and the big pigeon that sounds like your phone is on vibrate. The free roaming nature of most of the animals at some point is very fun, like their bird demonstration (not a show). Which allows the birds to join if they want or fly around for a while to stretch their wings. The staff is very friendly and able to answer questions you may have about the animals.Overall a great experience, especially if you're a big bird fan. But even for those who don't have an explicit interest there is enough variation to enjoy yourself

Joost W — Google review

A beautiful birds park with plenty of different of bird species. There are birds with different sizes and colors. The major highlight is where you can feed the birds with some nectar. You have to pay 1.50 per a cup in there. There was a demonstration as well where birds are doing some kind of stunts. The Madagascar animal section is also something unique where animals freely roam around you. Park is big, expect to spend at least 4 5 hours inside.

Ishanka H — Google review

Nice park, not big, but they are adding new areas they are still realizing it. There are lots of birds and also some other animals, but mostly birds. They also have a big playground site on the park with a lot of slides from a 20 meter high tower and a lot of water and playground area's. Recommend to go here.

Larsz_ — Google review

We loved everything here, so many different types of birds, some in very big cages, some free walking with us. The restaurant in the middle was also good, nice food, nice and friendly staff. As we had a room in the hotel by the park we could still walk round after closing time which was great. We recommend a stay here, we came with our 9 year old twins and all 4 of us have a great 3 days👍👍

Sandy F — Google review

Such an amazing experience visiting this bird sanctuary. They have a really broad collection of birds you can see and you can even feed the Loriini birds. The rest of the park is quite entertaining and the birds are well looked after.

Quintin L — Google review

It’s a nice place to visit if you have some extra time on your Amsterdam trip. Entrance fee is a little steep for what you get. But other than that nothing to complain. Lots of birds and other animals , some of which I haven’t seen anywhere else. There’s a big play area dedicated for the kids , which I found really good.Feeding the Loris was something we enjoyed a lot ( apart from the price to pay again for the feed ).If you buy your tickets online , you get a 1€ discount for the entrance fee.

Emil A — Google review

Nice park with birds and some other animals. You can get really close to some of the animals as you can see in the pictures. They are not scared of humans. We spend about 2 hours in the park and then went for the buffet dinner. The food was quite good.I do suggest you use some discount as the normal price of 44 euro per person is steep.

Rick D — Google review

It was fun and it is nice to see that they let the birds out. Restaurant in the park is a bit minimalistic, but food is fine. Had a fun afternoon

Yvonne W — Google review

Wonderful experience, it's possible to take a boat ride along the canal, with beverages served on board

Martino M — Google review

Great experience, many birds and small animals, some roaming free in the park, feeding demonstrations and lovely staff

Wandering W — Google review

A good place to spend quality time with your family and friends. There are several shows at the park which I would say are average. The Lori landing enclosure gets full points as that's something that you will always remember. Food inside the place is costlier, I guess that's as expected. For a group with kids you can expect to spend 4 to 5 hours in the park.

Ravikrishnan N — Google review

Amazing park with beautifull birds. Highly recommended you go to the live show if its on. Great for all ages. Theres a massive range of beautiful birds and some monkies and other animals.

Jon B — Google review

It's very cute and nice but at some point it feels like there's not enough to do so I ended up returning multiple times to the area where you can feed the birds.Definitely more than enough for 3-4 hours though. The food in the restaurant (hotel?) outside was great too.

Vacster123 — Google review

Fantastic Place for families with kids. Amazed by the variety of birds and animals. There are a lot of places in sight for a coffee or something to eat ( a bit pricey but for a park like this understandable). We had lots of fun with my 5 year old daughter. I definitely recommend it.

Stefanos G — Google review

A friendly place for families and couples for a walk. Lots of different species of birds, and more. Feeding demonstrations are organized at fixed times. We happened to be feeding lemurs, pelicans and parrots. Breathtaking. I recommend buying tickets online in advance, although there is no problem with buying at the checkout. Lots of parking space. I recommend going in the morning. It's not that crowded then.

Patrice D — Google review

Best park to visit with toddlers. The birds are all in such beautiful state and well cared for. There is a playground area for the little ones as well as snack bars to buy food from. They have monkeys and lemurs as well. It is a must visit.

Rosa S — Google review

Super nice place for families with kids - we spent the whole day there! It’s not a very big bird park but everything is close, it’s really peaceful, not too many visitors, at least during the week. Perfect for a leisure day with the kids. The species variety is not that big but you can see exotic birds and animals very close to you, unlike the big zoos. The pelican and penguin feedings are quite funny. There is a wonderful kid playground with tons of fun things to do - huge trampolines, water cars, regular cars, different slides, including a really big tower one. Rest areas with benches or places for picnic all around. Great coffee place right in the middle, two food options - nothing spectacular but fine for a quick snack.Definitely a good choice to spend a day with the kid/s.

Plamena ( — Google review

Nice mid size bird zoo with decent sized playground. Great for family outings with young children. No additional charge for electric rides and parking. The bird shows were great as you can see all the birds fly in the open. Good activities to spend the whole day.

Such a lovely place, we made it for the bird show which was exciting (would be great if this was in English), but the best part was getting to feed Loris ourselves! It also has a playground, very child friendly.

Have visited "Bird Park Avifauna" in Alphen aan den Rijn several times with family. There are many parking spaces available. It is a beautiful park to visit and see the birds in their enclosures and don't miss bird shows. The staff are nice and helpful. The park is visibly wheelchair and walker accessible, and there are even wheelchairs available to borrow. The children could also have fun in the playground. My acquaintances have regularly spent the night in the hotel on site. All in all a nice park to come back to.

Great day out for parents and children alike. Here the children can really enjoy. Aside from the fact that there are activities throughout the park and a lot to see in animals and all, there’s a big play ground with activities for all childrenI would carry some sandwiches though as the restaurants within can be so packed and then run out of what you may have wantedOtherwise a great place for all ages

Duinrell is an amusement park that offers a variety of thrilling and family-friendly rides, as well as an indoor pool attraction featuring 11 waterslides. While some facilities may be outdated, it still provides good value for a family outing. There are plenty of ride options available, catering even to young children. The food selection is average at best. Duinrell makes for an excellent destination for families on vacation, with its Duingalo accommodations and entertainment options suitable for all ages.

Fabulous place for a family holiday. Duingalo accommodation is great, and park provides entertainment for all ages. Local town is lovely, beach is amazing and the Hague and Leiden are an easy cycle.

One of the most amazing camp site merged with theme park ;) Everyone can find something for him self including large forest area to walk. I recommend visit the watch tower with spectacular view. Place wasn't overcrowded so no wasting time for queue like for example in Alton tower. My kids really enjoyed.

Excellent place for children, plenty to do for all ages from 5 years old. There are 2 large play parks and plenty of picnic benches. Toilets and parks are very clean. Lockers are located at the front and middle of the park. Food is a good price, drinks are a little pricey at €3.50. I would recommend it for a family holiday. The swimming area is also a great place to visit. Easy bus access, either catcha bus from the front of the park or take a 10 min walk for a more direct route.

Spent the week here with my family camping. Such a good site with so much for everyone to do.The indoor water park is great with a fantastic variety of slides. The park itself has some great rides, and queuing times were not bad. The park stays open until 10pm some nights for people camping or staying in the accommodation.Bikes are a must. The cycle paths around Holland are fantastic. 20 minutes to the local beach, well worth a trip.

Super FUN family vacation spot, but a bit dated. We entered the amusement park at 10 and NONE of the food, drink, coffee places were ready to sell to us. Dunkin Donuts wasn’t ready for business until 10.35.Also, it’s hard to believe they don’t have dedicated bike paths for for bikers and go karts. It’s was insane driving and walking on the same roads as many kids in their bikes. We wanted to be so safe and careful.Bathrooms and facilities were very clean, considering the crowds. Campsites were very nice and clean. Plenty of space.Booking and using the voucher for the pools was tedious at times, considering the WiFi there wasn’t the best.Overall.. a lot of fun for our family and would def be back! 🐸

I had a fantastic time at the theme park! The thrilling roller-coaster gave me an adrenaline rush, and I enjoyed cooling off with a swim and tackling some daring slides. One slide caught me by surprise, leading to an unexpected plunge into a deep pool. Thankfully, the attentive staff acted quickly to ensure my safety, which left a lasting impression on me. Their care and professionalism made me feel truly valued as a guest, and it's a memory I'll cherish. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable experience!

I believe this is one of the oldest theme parks in the Netherlands, with some exciting rides for adults but not for small children. There is, however, some stuff for young kids. However, it is worthwhile to visit this attraction, particularly since it includes one of the largest water parks in the Netherlands that is TikiBad. I wish Duinrell management should consider upgrading this Park.

Excellent amusement park for young kids. Most the rides are geared towards younger children (5 to 14) but a couple of faster coasters and one looped and corkscrewed. Grounds and facilities are clean and lines not that long. We went in a Thursday in early June. Great day!

We have just returned from 4 days here. We stayed In a duingalow- 2 familes with 4 kids between us aged 16, 10, 9, 9. The duingalow negatives were, no mirror in the bedrooms, not many sharp knives for cooking and no window in any toilets. Many more positives though- spacious, very comfy beds, great location (no 845 is at the back no people walk across the front), great showers, really good sauna, tvs in all bedrooms if needed and effective air con/ heating. There were so many activities for all ages. We only had two full days as check in is late and check out early. The rides at dark were great. We had unlimited access to the theme park with great rides for all ages and such small queues. Maybe 20 min longest queue. The water park is probably the best one we have ever been too. So many rides inside I don’t know how they fit them all in.We went to a magic show which was top quality- not what I’d expect from a glorified campsite. The shop was expensive but 5 mins outside the resort is a supermarket so we drove out and stocked up.The pizza in the pizza takeaway restaurant was lovely- we almost didn’t buy because of previous reviews but it was good.Take pool shoes and don’t bother showering in the pool showers- the floor leading into the pool and the changing rooms were dirty and smelly and most of the showers didn’t work.It was easy booking all the activities online and hiring a prep court for an hour was only 5 euros- a bargain! All in all I was pleasantly surprised with how the range of activities kept my children constantly entertained even my 16 year old who likes to be constantly active.

Our ultimate mobile home reservation does not correspond in any way to the photos on the site. One week before our arrival we will be refunded 260 euros because the air conditioning will be absent. We quickly understood that we had been downgraded to a premium mobile home which were right next door because they were the only ones without air conditioning. Cleaning had to be done and to our great surprise, well no... half of the beds were made and we found food both inside and outside on the terrace. In short, a great scam made just to fill their reservation book. Fortunately the amusement park is available for people at the campsite. For the snack to avoid. Paying 12 euros for a hamburger worthy of a discounter and we couldn't even figure out what meat we were eating. The pizza was decent though. I put one star but if I could have given less... in short it's a shame because the setting is nice and the proximity to large Dutch cities is an asset

Wir waren bereits 2x vor Ort.(Translated by Google)A nice amusement park where you can stay overnight with a caravan or motorhome. Duinell is the perfect park for families! With a great mix of parks, big and small rides, there's something for everyone. Queue management is spot on. Don't hesitate—book a visit. You won't be disappointed!UK Family of 5 - 13, 10 & 8

Very clean campsite offering lots of things to do. Quite busy but really enjoyed the ability to use the rides with very short queues compared to the UK and great indoor waterpark. The outdoor one is OK but the indoor one is much better

Weiter so war ein toller Tag(Translated by Google)Duinrell is a place that should be viewed more as a beautiful holiday park than a pure amusement park. The area is very large and open. There is an entire holiday village for overnight stays, a full-fledged amusement park with rides, a water park with large slides and lots of nature for hiking, cycling and other activities. If you want to sleep here, you can do so in a campsite, in a bungalow or even glamping. Something for every taste. Everyone will be happy on the rides. There is a lot for the children, but those looking for some thrills will also find what they are looking for here. We didn't visit the water park. The park was very well maintained and, above all, the staff was extremely friendly. Keep it up, it was a great day

Overall, it was a great spot for the family. Free rides to suit all ages . Very friendly staff and they are amenable to kids with additional needs. Would definitely recommend it. Would make one suggestion at busy times in the pool there is no quick Q for kids with additional needs. So book the pool times at quieter off peak times.

Amazing! The themed park is very good, could do with a few more rides for kids between 120-140 cm but we managed to keep our children entertainedWater park always busy but very well organised and lots of things to do.We stayed in luxury premium bungalow and they’re very well equipped and clean!

Ifigenia Q — Google review

Rating as a free guest with staying on site.Kids loved it. Great selection of good quality rides. Not big theme park level but perfect medium theme park with short queues and the kids just went on roller coasters over and over again.Everything felt safe and we all had a good time. The wonderland walk is a good laugh too.

Chad B — Google review

Look it’s an experience. Yes there are annoying groups of teenagers cursing and spitting. But the rides were lots of fun it’s small enough but plenty to do for our kids aged 6 - 12. We went on all the smaller kids rides and a few of the bigger ones. The splash was great. We actually camped in the campsite for 5 nights and as seasoned campsite visitors we found the place a bit wild. But it has lots of things to do lots of resources like shops and a bar and food choices. It’s all just a bit chaotic - the area is beautiful and the locals very helpful and talkative. Just because there are so many accommodations and so many people it just seems a bit tightly packed. I’m still very glad we went. If you want an action packed adventure for a family holiday it’s well worth a visit but I wouldn’t stay longer than 5nights. Possibly even just 3 nights. Although we booked with Eurocamp. I would try to book direct with Duinrell the next time.

Eóin L — Google review

Visited Duinrell for a short family holiday staying Monday to Friday. Staying onsite as part of the package. The park is similar to Flamingo Land in its size and range of rides, some smaller roller coasters, log flume style ride etc. The Tiki pool is a great part of the park and is included when booking direct.Would reccomend it for both families of young and older children.

Christopher L — Google review

Duinrell is extremely good for family holidays plenty of options for camping or staying in a small bungalow. The park caters for all ages, the indoor/outdoor pools and slides are very good and the theme park is very good u can walk or hire bikes.

Frank G — Google review

Fun for the whole family. We stayed in the Luxury Tents with 2 teenagers and a 7 year old. The park was clean and felt safe. The Theme Park was freely available to us throughout our stay and there were plenty of rides to entertain all the kids. The queues weren't too bad compared to other theme parks. We had to book slots in the water park, but 2 hours at a time were enough. The indoor waterpark had many different slides. The kids really enjoyed them all. The queues were long on some rides, but mostly moved quickly. The accommodation was clean and well equipt. If staying in a lodge tent, bear in mind there is little noise insulation. But we were so tired most evenings that it didn't affect our sleep.A great holiday for a family.

Absolutely fantastic fun filled theme park, water park and accommodation/campsite for all the family including your pooch! So much to see and do, with rides and facilities for all in a truly wonderful forest setting very close to the gorgeous upmarket Aalsmeer and unspoilt dunes and sandy Wassenarseslagg Beach. A must visit ..with easy access by car from the Stenna line Harwich too Hook of Holland crossing.

2nd time here and again we liked it there's plenty to do for kids and adults. The ques for the rides wasn't too bad around 10mins maximum and the indoor pool is excellent plenty to do for toddlers and older kids too. The beach isn't too far away and try and visit Luciano's for an ice cream.

We have loved coming here over the years. It’s always been a good value holiday. Since Covid we have found they are more stingy with the time you get to swim. For some reason they have gotten rid of the monkey swings, which was always a favourite. Other than this it’s a great place to stay and lots of different things to do. They had an online booking for certain things to do this time around, we booked it and then no one was there. When we queried it they didn’t seem to know.

Anja D — Google review

A few weeks ago we spent the day at Duinrell. We booked a morning session at Tiki Bad for the slides and swimming and then proceeded to the amusement park. The slides at Tiki Bad are really cool and some quite hectic. Take note that some go deep and you need a bit of swimming ability. Facilities are great and staff are on the ball. Then off to the amusement park where we enjoyed some rides and food. The food lines can get quite long and it seems the restaurants only open later the afternoon. All in all it was a great day and really well priced at just over 30 Euro per person. Traveling there via public transport is also very easy.

Gardens

The Hortus Botanicus Leiden is a botanical garden founded in 1590. It has a tropical glasshouse, a winter garden, and an airy cafe. The garden contains species of plants that can survive in extreme conditions, such as carnivorous plants, cactus, succulents, orchids and others.

I do recommend the garden and the cafe, the service is incredible and it is always very pleasant to sit there abd enjoy a meal or a drink. I visit the garden very time I am in Leiden as the nature shows always a different face and I do also visit the cafe as I enjoy the calmness and the peace there. And of course the chocolate carrot cake!

This museum is so cute! The weather was great so it was so nice to walk around and see all the different types of plants. At first it was hard to find the main entrance but after finding it we were kindly greeted by the employees at the ticket booth. After walking through the museum you can visit their giftshop, which has the cutest stuff, or you can relax in the cafe. And if you don't feel like walking through the museum but just want to visit the cafe you can do that, no need to pay an entrance fee. There are bathrooms and lockers available.I highly recommend this museum if you are interested in plants or you just want to take a stroll. Also there are cats :)

Spring is coming! Incredibly attractive with several different gardens, Chinese, Japanese, Rose etc. Walking around the river and sitting on the grassland with blossoms is just so chilling that you feel alive again. You can also hear various superb birds flying and playing around the trees. Perfect place to recharge yourself!!!

Qiong F — Google review

Beautiful botanic garden, with huge and old trees. It’s also very quiet, despite being in the city center. The tropical hothouse is also ver impressive. I also liked the observatory, a very photogenic building. Ideal to get out of the busy city for a relaxing stroll.

Jan V — Google review

Large variety of plants and flowers. Including real rarities that bloom once in a few decade, lots of flesh-eating plants, various buildings with different climates, huge butterflies and lots more. Personally my favorite part was the tropical greenhouse, including elevated walkways on different heights that enable you to walk through and experience all levels of the ‘jungle’ from various animal species vantage-points.There’s also an online tool made by Leiden Universality where you can find extended information of all plants and shows you the best walking route on an online map.Next to Hortus there’s also the Observatory (oldest still functioning university observatory in the world) which is certainly worth a visit!

Balazs V — Google review

Wonderful botanical garden that’s part of the university of Leiden, but publicly accessible (and one of the oldest botanical gardens in Europe). Wonderfully quaint, and very well maintained, it feels like because of the connection to the university, there’s a lot of great scientific insights and tidbits shared throughout. The highlight is probably the indoor pond with the giant water lilies and beautiful lotus flowers.

Such a beautiful place! Our walking took about 2 hours and it was so interesting 🌿🌸🌱 Many flowers abs plants even when it’s not the blooming season yet. The area is cleaned, many benches, toilets, well developed place. We also visited the exhibition in the building on the territory of the garden, it’s nice to see. My recommendation!💗

We went in June. The outer space is nice for relax (I would describe it as nice park, without weed all around). But unfortunately we didn't see much flowers and parts of the garden seems a little neglected (e.g. vegetable garden). The inner space on the other hand was amazing. Very interesting information about various species. Very well taken care of.

Tadeáš F — Google review

This botanical garden was really great. I took 1.30 hours, but unfortunately it wasn't enough for me, because there were so many plants to take pictures... I will definitely visit again. Rest assured, it's much fuller than you expected.

Lovely botanical garden where flora meets history. There’s a lot you can learn about plants and their origin, especially about the ones brought to Europe from exotic lands by Dutch and German explorers. We found the theme gardens particularly interesting, like the Japanese and Chinese ones, as well as the evolution of plants.I am not sure how crowded it is during the weekend but we went on a Friday and it was not crowded at all. Really beautiful place, don’t miss out on visiting it.

The Corpus is an extremely interesting and entertaining tourist attraction that covers the human body in detail. The tour takes you from the knee to the brain, and is available in eight different languages. It's a great way for kids to get interested in biology, and it's also very informative for adults.

This Museum is extremely well done and a real immersive experience. The tickets are a bit expensive (parking is as well so try to come by bike!) but are definitely worth it. You get little headphones set to your mother tongue so you can listen to the explanations. In the end, there’s also several things to try out. Definitely an experience for the whole family.

Wiebke C — Google review

Unfortunately I found it kind of boring. All the information was shown on screens, there was basically nothing to interact with. Inside you could smell plastic everywhere. the headset was uncomfortable. The group of people in which I participated the visit was too big. Sometimes I felt that it was too crowded inside. The visit left me pretty disappointed which is sad, because the place has a lot of potential and the idea in theory is great.

Karolina P — Google review

WARNING: You are not allowed to take pictures or videos inside the museum, so if you are going there with hopes of getting cool photos, abort mission. Overall experience of the museum was exciting. It’s like a cinema experience with 3D glasses.

Oluwatofunmi E — Google review

Very Expensive - same price for adults and children (7 year old) (approx. 20€). Very strict tour with a fix group, no possibility to explore on your own. Museum after the tour is okay. Sadly only one information level for everyone - whether you are a 7 year old child or a medical professional.

Sasha S — Google review

One of the most impressive museums I’ve ever seen. The guided tour is amazing. My kids absolutely loved it and my wife and I had a great time as well. Highly recommended if your kids are interested in anatomy! Consider that you need to visit as part of a guided tour that’s available at certain time slots only so better have enough time available.

Liran D — Google review

Amazing experience for kids and adults. Very informative and designed well to keep kids entertained throughout the entire path. A mix of physical, audio, video, smell stimulus coupled with a well balanced delivery of difficult scientific concepts that kids can grasp. Strongly recommended.

Daniele C — Google review

It's well done and entertaining, but to me the price seems too steep for what it is. The museum aimed at a younger audience, but even kids won't learn much - it's quite simplistic.

Aurora S — Google review

Very good and educational experience with kid especially if they like human bodies, however the price for tickets is quite high though (23.5€ each even for kid). The tour is around 1 hour but you can then visit each floor from the highest to the ground.

Grace T — Google review

Very interesting and entertaining for all children.

Mircea C — Google review

This a very exciting experience about the human body internal functioning told in a very clear and understandable way. This is also very friendly for kids unfortunately shooting pictures inside the tour was prohibited so no pics from the actual journey through the body. Nice and great food service and also drinks nice I got invited through a company I work with so it was my third time seeing this tour twice on a private matter which was also very good. There are Not to many pics I have of this place but as many of you already know if I can shoot some then I will post them.

Rachid A — Google review

Pros: incredibly educational place, easili accessible, underground parking, English-speaking staff, time-controlled entry, the first hour is precisely timed, you move from room to room, listening to the guided tour, watching the inside of human body (taking pictures is prohibited), very inspiring, nicely processed, followed by an interactive part where you can spend as much time as you like, souvenir shop, refreshments available, it took us almost 3 hours overally, Cons: parking is paid separately, the interactive part is more for older children not for a small ones, a lot of texts, questions, very few interactive games

Marek S — Google review

The Dutch are best on pedagogic I have seen over and over again. This may be the best example. Some of the test questions afterwards are not in English and in the tour they talk about "picking roses" and show this in a animation, which is very difficult if you know anything about roses, but otherwise nothing to critic. A wonderful place to learn! Go there, even though it is not cheap.

Klaus S — Google review

Fun place to learn about the inner workings of the human body - for kids and adults alike. There is a small restaurant at the top floor with a view of the village next door (no sea view) and the Hague in the distance.

Tourist trap in the middle of the Netherlands.Entrance: 26 euros p.pParking: 10 euros (parking is 100% free like 5 min walk away)Museum is nice but not worth the price. It's more like an "experience" where you are guided from room to room to see something. No going back, no wandering. Only in set times and in a predefined group. The whole tour takes 40 min. The rest is really filler and low standard compared to other museums.Generally there is an atmosphere of "finish your tour and get the F**k out" from the staff, exhibits and such. They just want your money. Not worth it. Mostly hype and no substance. Would not recommend unless you got as gift or got a really good discount.Kids had fun for sure, not super educational, very basic. Can have fun for much cheaper that is for sure.If you're reading other positive reviews and thinking "well how come they had fun?". Well, I can tell you they have not seen other museums in the Netherlands. Or just have low expectations for 25 euro ticket per person.

Amir L — Google review

You know.. I'm shocked. This place will surprise both children and adults. So interesting, informative and incredibly cool. Know your body within the body. A complete feeling that you are a molecule that moves through the capillaries, and all organs. Breathing, heartbeat, smells and much more you can feel every organ of your body from the inside of it. Thanks to the video, audio 5d, and much more, the feeling of being completely indulged inside. Prices 24 euros entrance and children and adults at the same price, parking 7.5 euros. There is an audio guide, it's a pity that there is no Ukrainian language, but I understand that the project was created a long time ago, so for now only Russian and many others. I really hope that in the near future there will be an audio guide in Ukrainian, if you need help with this, I can translate it for you. There are no photos inside, they are prohibited, but to be honest, that's right, you don't need to take pictures, you need to go to this wonderful museum and experience everything yourself. Enjoy. You must visit.

Irchik A — Google review

Very nice museum. Very interesting for children and adults. Don't go if you have claustrophobia. And I believe child hace to be more than 6 years old- because you always will be in your own audio guide.

This place was amazing. The best way to learn about the human body and how it works. They explained in Dutch and English.Perfect place for kids to spend their holiday. They can learn while playing.

Rizki P — Google review

The whole tour through the human body was amazing. The implementation is very ingenious, the narration was smart, and thrilling but also simple for a child. My daughter (6,5) was also amazed, she was content, followed the story. Keep in mind that it can be much for people with sensory overload issues. It took an hour. Snack bar is nothing extra, but has a great view. On the way down through the six floors are a lot of interactive, educational play.

Bernadett T — Google review

Well, i was just amazed about this museum! I do know a thing or two,,,or more about the human body, but this exclusive trip into the human organism world engulfed utterly, and with added 3d experience - you come out and understand that we are just a miracle in the universe! 100000km of blood capillars in us, while the trip around the Earth is 40000. Well, get there and take the kids 4 real!

One hour group tour with headphones in your language and around an hour to walk in another part of museum , but only Dutch and English language .Beautiful park near by with playground .

Liliia S — Google review

Super expensive at 24 euro/pp (all ages!) given that the info is very, very basic. Best for ages 5-10, probably (though my 10 yo didn’t learn anything). The idea is great and some of the interactive exhibits are cool, but most of it is pretty uninspired and some are downright weird (sperm swimming at your face?). Save yourself the cash and the hassle of timed tickets and visit one of the Netherlands’ zillions of other awesome science museums! (It would be cool if they had different audioguides targeted at different ages with increasingly more complex material)

Nature & Parks

Keukenhof, also known as the Garden of Europe, is a vast 19th-century park which opens annually from mid-March to mid-May. It displays a breathtaking array of Dutch spring flowers and boasts around 7 million flower bulbs planted each year. Located in Lisse, it is one of the world's largest flower gardens and attracts approximately 1.4 million visitors during its eight-week season.

Beautiful gardens perfectly manicured lawns with great floral beds such vibrancy of colours and the smell is magnificent as you walk round is so intense, the restaurant's are very clean and staffed well and incredibly helpful, the lavatories are very clean and well maintained. The pavilions are well laid out and a festival for the eyes. Definitely worth coming a glorious day out.

Beautiful place! A sea of flower colors! 😍🌷🌱🌸 It's worth seeing! The park is large, with many beautiful locations. Lots of places to eat, playground, mini zoo, goats, sheep..🐑🐐🐇🐔🦆 Souvenir shops. We had a wonderful day, count on walking for 3-4.5 hours to see everything. 😁

Adelia K — Google review

Words are not enough to explain the beauty of this place. Also beauty of this place can't be captured in photos or videos. We just have to feel it. It is a beautiful Tulip garden in keukenhof which is opened only for certain period of time in between March to May. It was our pleasure to visit Netherlands exactly during this time and had a chance to visit Tulip garden. Well spent a day in this garden, lot of Tulips, picturesque places, high points for, kids play area, photography spots, what not, I feel minimum stay of 5-6 hours is required to feel the joy of this place

Snehaja C — Google review

Go early to beat the crowds, and you will have a truly wonderful experience. We found the gardens simply breathtaking. Every direction you turn is another picture-perfect view. The smell was phenomenal. The shop was lovely and not too expensive. Worth the visit.Truly a must see!

Anastasiya A — Google review

It’s a good visit I would say but too much crowded. You can checkout lots of tulips variety through out the park. But prefer weekdays as weekends would be fully crowded. There is place called tulip barn near this spot where you can walk into the tulip fields for best photos than kukenhof

Ashok M — Google review

Such an amazing place. Displays the beauty of God's creation. Spectacular array of tulips and orchids. The colours are amazing. The place has many places to sit and just enjoy the scenery. Cafes and food trucks are located at various locations. There's also a playground for kids.

Our visit to Keukenhof Gardens was an absolute delight! We dedicated an entire day to exploring the meticulously landscaped gardens, which were a feast for the eyes with their breathtaking displays of tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths. The vibrant colors and fragrant blooms created an enchanting atmosphere. In addition to the captivating beauty of Keukenhof, our stay in Lisse provided the perfect base for further exploration. Venturing beyond the gardens, we discovered an expansive canvas of tulip fields stretching over a 50-mile radius. Renting bicycles allowed us to immerse ourselves in this sea of colors, making each day an adventure filled with natural wonders. The combination of our time at Keukenhof Gardens and the surrounding tulip fields made for a truly magical and memorable experience. After visiting Lisse a few times now, I can suggest best time to be here is between mid April and mid May.

A C — Google review

There are no words that can describe how beautiful this place is💚 gorgeous and colorful flowers, they smell amazing too, I felt like I was in the secret garden, the more I wandered there , the more I discovered new and beautiful scenes of flowers and waterfalls.Make sure to check the weather, because the weather was awful when I visited it (end of April)

Arwa B — Google review

Visited there on May’24. I would say if anyone love flowers, you should have never missed this garden. But I would recommend to go there during early of April. On May the flowers is not really beautiful as March-April

Wannipa C — Google review

Went here early April and the flowers weren’t fully bloomed yet. This place is lovely but it can be packed quite well. The place is nice and big and provides a great work. Worth €15 per person just to relax and do tulip sight seeing.

Jcx — Google review

Some really beautiful displays of thousands of tulips plus other bulbs and complimentary plantings. We booked a time slot awhile ago and recommendations were to go early to avoid the crowds but this is misleading as there were a lot of people booked in at the opening and many bus tours. Just keep in mind this is an event more than a traditional garden visit and you won't stress about the crowd. It was still a peaceful atmosphere and really lovely.

D&C L — Google review

We had the opportunity to visit and wow was it busy! The lines to get in were very long but moved quickly. Great washrooms and nice maps to follow on your self guided tour. Take your time and enjoy. The gardens are beautiful and immaculate. I had no idea how many varieties of tulips there were until the day I visited. So interesting. GO HERE and enjoy. Try the Friet Bus in the parking lot! Great fries!

Jason T — Google review

We visited this wonderful park on May 4, 2023. Tickets were bought in advance online, there was a huge queue at the entrance (they pass quickly). They took a map for free at the entrance, it helped us to navigate. The territory is very large, the legs got tired, they rested on benches or cafes. For children there is a large playground + mini zoo. Gorgeous park with lots of different colors. We went to exhibitions with flower arrangements according to the season. Lots of beautiful photo locations. Mill overlooking the tulip fields. We arrived at lunchtime and left at closing time. You can bring food and a picnic blanket with you. I advise everyone to visit this wonderful place and more than once!❤️

Halyna B — Google review

Best tulip gardens in the world. Opened for only a few weeks in the year in the summer. Go early to avoid crowds. Huge queue. Take the bicycle to cover the area. It is huge and worth visiting.

Samar S — Google review

An amazing experience. I was there in May 2023. The tulip fields are simply amazing, even despite the crowds of people. Lots of charming paths between blooming tulips, daffodils and other flowers.

Agnieszka R — Google review

Very nice tulip fields, so much greenery, cute little canal everywhere, so very colourful. Brings inner peace and happiness while in here. Also there are a lot of playing areas for kids. Nice wind-Mills with amazing history to it. All in all nice place to spend a day.

Hema S — Google review

Auch wenn es wahnsinnig voll war, muss man es mal gesehen haben. Blumenbeete über Blumenbeete , eines schöner wie das andere…. Tulpen soweit das Auge reicht…..hier kann man gut den ganzen Tag verbringen! Alles wunderschön angelegt und sehr gepflegt!(Translated by Google)Even though it was incredibly crowded, you still have to see it. Flower beds upon flower beds, each more beautiful than the next... Tulips as far as the eye can see...you can easily spend the whole day here! Everything beautifully laid out and very well maintained!

Amazing. We have visited twice. We visited end of March the first time and the flowers were starting to bloom. The second time, we came end of April and 97% were in bloom. Both visits were fantastic. Lovely to stroll and wander around at your own pace. So picturesque. Plenty of shops to buy souvenirs and some bulbs. Would highly recommend to others.

Chloe G — Google review

Wow, wow, wow. We spent six hours here, trying to do it all. There was a surprise after surprise and there were so many awesome photo opportunities. There were indoor gardens with beautiful artwork, a maze to a tower, petting zoo, boats, windmill that we could go in, great food, lots of shops, and so much more. So much beauty all around and although it was so packed, we really enjoyed our time there. Expected to spend 2-3 hours, but were there for 6!

Monette E — Google review

Very nice place! We were there 13th April. Catering and toilets are at many places. Plenty of space for sitting and lying. I appreciate maps for free near the entrance.I recommend ticket reservation for whisper boats - it is almost always occupied.

Klárka Š — Google review

Tolle Tulpenfelder. Tulips as far as you can see and one variety more beautiful than the other. Incredible diversity. Everything beautifully laid out. We booked the entry ticket online, as well as the parking space. You have to register for a time slot but it's only about the entry time, you can stay in the park as long as you want. A good 3 hours should be planned. I can only recommend visiting the park on a weekday. We were there on a Tuesday and it was quite busy.

Doris K — Google review

It's a great park, wonderful scenery. To be enjoyed at its prime blooming time. There are lots of souvenir shops and food and drink stands. As a family, we spent a wonderful afternoon here.It is better to book your visit at least one day in advance, including a time slot, so you do not wait in long lines.

Sorin L — Google review

Keukenhof is a breathtaking floral paradise! The gardens are meticulously designed and bursting with vibrant colors during tulip season. I loved strolling through the different themed areas, each offering a unique experience. The variety of flowers and landscapes is truly impressive, and the sheer beauty of the park is awe-inspiring. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there's plenty to explore, including exhibitions, sculptures, and interactive displays. It's a perfect spot for families, couples, and anyone who appreciates nature's beauty. Highly recommended for a memorable day out!

Olena B — Google review

Visited this garden on the mid may, 90% of flowers has been gone. There are still some left in the bucket but every time people just try so hard to talk a photo. Probably come in mid-late April is better. Still happy to visit here but if they could give a bit cheaper ticket would be fair enough since not many flowers left to see.

Rattikorn P — Google review

Fantastic natural park for those who like nature and especially tulips. Many and varied colors. We liked a lot. All logistics, transport from the airport, purchasing tickets online are very easy. As it is only open for a little over a month, you can expect a lot of people, but it's enough for everyone.

Paulo N — Google review

It's heaven for Tulip lovers. I have never seen so many different varieties of Tulips in my life. This Tulip park is very well designed. Landscaping and esthetic of the park is neatly decorated and maintained to the highest standards.I highly recommend checking the blooming time of tulips on their website for visiting here. I think between March and May the first week should be fine, still check before coming to the Netherlands for Tulips.

Chetan B — Google review

Visit to Keukenhof gardens was a dream come true. The garden layouts are exceptional! We visited by the end of April, so all the flowers were in full bloom, Booked early prior to our visit. We drove from GB to Holland. Car parking tickets were also purchased online. Staff were friendly. Toilet facilities were also very good . Cafe had a variety of food and drinks and is conveniently located in different areas. The garden was big and lots of walking needed. The tulips were stunningly beautiful. It is less busy before 10.30 and after 16:00. The light of the morning and evening sun allows you to take wonderful photographs. It is also less busy on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday than on the other days of the week. Remember It's only open from the end of March to the first week's of May every year.

Ajith P — Google review

It’s a must visit place in the Netherlands. The garden is so huge and you can spend a whole day in there. Spring is obviously the best time to visit to enjoy all the beautiful tulips and greens. Something to remind the tourists is to book your transport along with the ticket. If not you will have to buy it separately which could be a bit inconvenient. The 20€ is just for the garden entrance collectively it should be 36 if I remember correctly. Another bonus will be bringing picnic carpets or towels it’s such a great place to hang honestly I didn’t want to leave. Along with that some sandwiches and snacks will save your day. There are cafes and and refreshments as an option. Try to cover as much grounds as you could and for that the little map comes in very handy. Also dress comfortably as you will be walking a lot. Enjoy! It is so worth it!

Derartu D — Google review

Wonderful gardens with an incredible display of spring bulbs. Tulip extravaganza! Crowded even at 10am on a Saturday in mid-April, extremely crowded by noon. Will definitely visit again next year, although will try midweek rather than a weekend. Photos below don't do justice to the 6+ million bulbs they plant each year!

Robert ( — Google review

the colors were amazing and inspiring and the exhibits were well presented.traffic was as expected as many locals and tourist flock to this event. parking is generous and they do offer shuttle services. expect large crowds and bring your walking shoes. it is highly recommended to purchase tickets in advance which also helps plan your day. the eateries are fair priced but do expect to wait in line. i highly recommend visiting

Amazing park, beautiful even with cloudy skies or under the pouring rain (and there some indoor attractions here!)Thousands of sorts of tulips, all incredibly diverse and beautiful. Themed installations.Plan to spend several hours here, as there are so many beautiful spots.Several fast-food options.

Evgeny — Google review

The gardens are fabulous! We went immediately to buy tickets for the canal cruise but it was sold out until 4:30 & we were leaving at 3. Souvenirs are reasonably priced. Wear comfortable shoes. We had incredible weather & took great photos. Clean restrooms!

Gerri D — Google review

This is a must visit during tulip season. It is large but you can just wander around and you’ll be amazed at every turn. They do have very informative tours as well. Public transport there and back is simple. Buy tickets ahead if you can but otherwise they are available when you arrive.

John S — Google review

Arrived early, and did a full circuit of the gardens. The colors and arrangements are spectacular. There are lookout spots around the gardens where you can see the farmer tulip fields all around. It's a very beautiful and peaceful place. Also saw an old automated organ playing a full brass band. Was very entertaining. Highly recommend a visit during Spring.

Roberto F — Google review

Impressive collection and presentation of tulips. The area is very large, you can easily spend a day. Try to book an early slot, as it gets very crowded.Plenty of food options available throughout the park; playground, petting zoo and a maze will delight kids.

Aber hin fahren auf jeden Fall die 20€ eintritt sind es definitiv wert !!!(Translated by Google)This selection of colors is beautiful and tulips and other flowers are simply stunning. Huge parking lot is controlled at the exit. The park is huge and beautifully landscaped. You can take a boat trip but it was too full for us that day. Panorama Terrace at NEMO Science Centre in Amsterdam offers a stunning 22m high view of the city and is accessible to the public without an entrance fee. During summer, it transforms into a city beach with comfortable deckchairs, a large chess set, and water features. At Schiphol Airport, the Panorama Terrace on the 3rd floor provides excellent views of airport operations and runways. Visitors can also explore an old Fokker 100 KLM aircraft on display.

Fantastic idea to have this wonderful option at Schiphol Airport! 😊 What an extraordinary view!

Vlad — Google review

This is a good viewing point for the busy Schiphol Airport. Free entry. Excellent! Lift access so wheelchair and limited mobility friendly. Good seating availability with some sheltered. The Cityhopper F100 on the viewing terrace was interesting and novel! Plus a very good café right there. Very good coffee. No hot food served when I visited but it was definitely the winter season. I would certainly visit again...!

Stuart T — Google review

If you are a planespotter I would definitely recommend this, it’s still a nice view and they have a Fokker 100 on top of the roof. There are binoculars on the roof too. I would recommend this if you are at Schiphol.

Dimitri V — Google review

Never knew you can get so close to a plane without having any plans to fly. Found this place after more than 10 visits to the airport. An awesome place to visit when you have ample time to kill before u board ur flight. You also have a life size demo plane with cockpit view.100 % Recommended

DpAk S — Google review

Lovely place to spot planes and watch the planes take off. You get to see the planes real close as well. I sat under the KLM Fokker 100 while spotting planes. I had a good view of both runways.

Fantastic A — Google review

Love it here, great views although not all runways at AMS are visible

Paul S — Google review

A good spot to pass time if you are in Schiphol Airport. Could also have a peak into the Fokker 100 aircraft which is converted into a mini museum.

LVJ — Google review

Overrated. The retired Fokker is nice, although there is no access to the cockpit and all the chairs inside are removed. The view itself is not great, the terminal blocks the view on RWYs 36R/18L and 09/27. Can only check out stands, the Delta's birds sometimes stop there.

Jan W — Google review

Take the escalators up to the roof of Schipol’s terminal building and enjoy a great view of Europe’s fourth busiest airport. The panorama terrace is pure heaven for plane-spotters and there are enough binoculars outside to see the planes landing and taking off in great detail. If you’re interested in the history of aviation, then pop into the Fokker 100 located here. You can take a look at the cockpit, see how suitcases are stored in the luggage room and learn about Dutch aviation pioneer Anthony Fokker. Admission to the panorama terrace and the Fokker 100 is free and available to anyone with the slightest interest in airplanes.

Jableh J — Google review

Amazing terrace. Great for watching planes. Love going here to spend quality time. Used to be a bit bigger, but still great.

Michael M — Google review

This is a quiet oasis on top of a busy airport. I found this on a long layover, and if you hate the crowds as much as me then this is the place to go. You don't get a good view of the runways unless you have binoculars.

Ian R — Google review

If you have some time available whilst transferring flights or waiting to meet someone, this is an excellent location to watch the movements on the apron, parking stands and runways. There is also an old KLM City Hopper Fokker (no offence meant) 100 which you can explore.

Peter R — Google review

So neat! What a great place to take the kids to stretch their legs, run around, get under and inside a plane, and grab food. Well done

NadiaNoble2012 — Google review

Nice to see the planes, not cozy or well maintained but fun to see the airport like this

Good Views of airplanes liftning. I am a airplane connoisseur so I liked the panorama terrace a lot. No wait times and great views 😉😄✈️

Although the coffee art looked like a small t-rex 🦖, it tasted pretty good. The muffins were sumptuous and people working there were very kind and friendly. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Shasank S — Google review

It's an excellent place to take some pictures and chill In the meantime you can appreciate the airplane taking flight

Ezequias S — Google review

Great views, plenty of open space and some under cover too. Fascinating watching all the KLM fleet and the international carriers at this busy airport.

Jason W — Google review

The flight deck is free, and accessible on excellent hours as long as the weather ia not too bad. Highly recommended for the little kids, they can enter the old Fokker airplane on display there and in the distance you can see the planes taking off and landing.

Hans — Google review

Got addicted to it! Best spot at Schiphol. Free of charge which is fantastic given how greedy Schiphol is in general!

KrisG K — Google review

My favorite place to come by in Schiphol Airport whenever I have waiting time between transport. Next to the beautiful view of airplanes in transit, there is also a Fokker airplane show model, which was used by KLM a long time ago. You can see how the cockpit looked like, sit for a moment, and read a brief history of Schiphol Airport as well as Dutch aviation. Just be mindful of wind and airplane fuel fume if you are not a fan of those. All in all, a great stop every time!

Duy N — Google review

This is situated inside Schiphol Airport. It's a nice terrace to watch planes landing, parking and taking off. There is an old KLM cittyhopper on the terrace where people can get in and see how the cockpit looks like and take pictures.

Nancie N — Google review

Absolutely fantastic, would recommend to anyone. It was incredibly foggy when we went but even that didn't spoil it for us. Great views of the apron, taxiway and runway. Perfect for anyone who is interested in that sort of thing

Ben S — Google review

Good place at Schiphol to get some... fresh air. It's free and there is a café. A few decades ago it was much larger, but understandably safety concerns have also changed. I don't know why temporary metal fences have been placed, pushing viewers further away from the edge. Fokker 100 PH-OFE is conserved on the terrace, as seen on my picture from the D pier a while after visiting.

Dirk P — Google review

A calm serene experience, with all the service you could want to make you travels calmer and more enjoyable. The food and drink catered for all tastes, and the seating is sufficient to find your own space and relax. All KLM staff were courteous and polite, nothing too much trouble. Well worth visiting and making you journey that much more enjoyable.

Darren B — Google review

The Panorama Terrace at Schiphol Airport is an absolute gem for aviation enthusiasts and travelers alike. Located in the public area of the airport, it's easily accessible from Schiphol Plaza. The terrace offers stunning, wide-ranging views of the runways and aprons, allowing visitors to watch planes take off and land up close. The facilities are excellent, with cafes and seating areas available, making it a comfortable spot to spend some time. Whether you're an aviation fan or just looking for a unique experience while at the airport, the Panorama Terrace is a must-visit. It's especially great for families and photographers, providing a fantastic vantage point for capturing the bustling activity of one of the world's busiest airports.Overall, the Panorama Terrace is a well-maintained, enjoyable space that adds a special touch to the travel experience at Schiphol. Highly recommended!

Bus Tours

Unfortunately, although the name and marketing is in English, the tour is in Dutch. No translation at any step (not even the instructions) and a bit of attitude from the driver when introducing yourself as a non-Dutch person.

Ina N — Google review

Waste of time and money. Wish I could get that time back...and money €€€.

J V — Google review

Very disappointing!! Expected something..but nothing much!

Ashik P — Google review

(Translated by Google) Personally, I expected more. You ride in the bus to places where you can also go by car (except for a short distance). Furthermore, you don't get off the bus to see anything, so you see everything from the outside. For example, you don't see the fire brigade at all because a new building has been constructed and the bus route has not yet been adjusted (waiting for approval from Schiphol). On the bus everything is explained on screens, which was informative.(Original)Persoonlijk had ik er meer van verwacht.

Bouke S — Google review

(Translated by Google) The driver really makes something of it, but the tour itself is a bit disappointing. Come to places that you can reach yourself with your own car, only the part at Schiphol East you are really behind the scenes. You do get a lot of information, so it is quite interesting for children. Tip; buy your tickets via an auction site. Furthermore, it is always fun to look at Schiphol, with the panoramic terrace that is open again.(Original)Chauffeur maakt er echt nog iets van, maar de tour zelf valt een beetje tegen.

Peter-paul W — Google review

(Translated by Google) Thought it would be nice, let's do that. Are we really getting close to the planes for the children? But unfortunately, in the past the tour was really between the planes. There is little for children, especially small ones, and you pay an additional 8.00 per person (even if they are 0.) and that's not even talking about adults. You're better off sitting at McDonald's when that lane is open. Children can still enjoy McDonald's while they watch the planes land. I would take another outing for the kids and skip this one, it was unfortunately disappointing.(Original)Dacht leuk, dat gaan we doen.

Raquel K — Google review

(Translated by Google) For what you pay for this, I honestly expected more than a simple tour by bus and an informative video. You can also see most of the things from the public roads. An upgrade to an electric bus is also not an unnecessary luxury.

Molen Van Sloten (1990) & Kuiperij Museum is a fascinating attraction in Amsterdam that showcases the ingenuity and history of Dutch windmills. The museum offers tours and demonstrations of the functioning 1847 mill, which was invented in the 16th century and remains operational today. Visitors can learn about barrel-making traditions through exhibits at the museum.

Fantastic museum Molen Van Sloten! It's so interesting to know the mechanism of working and the history. Dutch people are so smart, they invented it in the 16th century and it works even now! Thanks to the guide, the excursion was very fascinating!

ArtWay M — Google review

Highly recommend to visit this windmill museum. Very interesting and educational, only €8 for the tour. If it wasn’t for windmills, the wonderful city of Amsterdam would not have existed today. I plan to come back to Amsterdam with my son, nieces and nephews from the USA.

Motion C — Google review

What a wonderful time we had at Sloten Windmill. There is so much to explore, our fantastic guide gave us a real insight to the importance of the windmills both then and now. We had no idea that Amsterdam is below sea level and was grateful of this opportunity to learn more. It was a real treat seeing the miller use the brake to stop the sails and fold these away, I've never been this close to the workings and very much appreciated this experience. Highly recommend a visit.

Urbanfux — Google review

Great visit and tour! Very cool to learn about how important windmills were/are to the Netherland’s history, and to be able to see and go inside one of the last working ones.

This was one of my favorite things I did in Amsterdam. It’s a little outside of the city, but so worth it. We had the best tour guide, though I can’t remember his name. He was a volunteer. I learned so much about not only windmills, but history as well. Would definitely recommend!

Allison H — Google review

Fantastic tour. The guide tour was very passionate about the history of the windmill itself. Molen Van Sloten not to be missed if visiting Amsterdam. Highly recommended.

A wonderful experience. It is an engineering marvel to see and understand how windmills play a pivotal role in Holland's history. It is not too far from the tram stop. Would recommend for people to see a different side of Amsterdam.

This was well worth the €8 fee, it's a shame my wife couldn't do it as the elevator was broken today. Very friendly staff and informative tour and highly recommended. Found this better than visiting Amsterdam but then never liked cities living in the country. Ladies there were excellent speaking German and English as well as their own language and maybe more.

Great place to visit and learn about the Mills and Netherlands history. The historic mill is working and volunteers manage the visit. We loved the visit, our host was so welcoming. Great experience and we were lucky to have a change of mill direction. A place to go

We stumbled upon the windmill and stopped for a look, only to be surprised with the fantastic museum and guide explaining the inner workings of the windmill. He managed to start and stop the windmill and even let me climb the fins a bit! All the while being extremely friendly and funny about his explanations.I highly recommend visiting here and learning about the ingenious ways of the Dutch, while taking a look at the beautiful surroundings.

Thanks to the very friendly volunteer staff at the Molen van Sloten I learned a lot about windmills in general and about the function of this mill in particular. As I was the only guest at that time, staff decided that one of them, a very lovely lady, would give me a personal tour. I could not have wished for a better guide! Thank you very much for all your efforts!

Wonderful tour! Very interesting and informative. The trip out from central Amsterdam was well worth it. The area around the windmill is picturesque as well. Very glad we took the time to visit.

The Molen Van Sloten windmill tour was incredibly interesting. It was amazing to see the great Dutch engineering from the inside. They had multiple windmill models and one where our tour guide demonstrated how the breaks work to stop the sails. Then we were able to go out on the deck and watch a Miller use the breaks so we could walk around and see the sails up close. As you walk up the stairs to each level of the windmill don't miss the representations of Rembrandt's artworks and a short film of windmill history. We had a great time. Plus, on our weekday visit there were no crowds.

It's well worth visiting the Sloten windmill. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The lady guide had an excellent knowledge of windmills which made it very interesting and enjoyable. The mill had a lot of nicely set out displays inside. Recommended!

Super nice tour! The guide was very enthusiastic and I learned a lot about dutch history and windmills. Also very reasonably priced, especially compared to other places closer to the centre of the city. Right next to the place there is also a great craft beer bar and a fries restaurant.

We loved our visit and learnt alot about windmills. The ladies who work at the windmill were super helpful and friendly. They gave my son a colouring sheet after the tour and directions for us to take the tram into Amsterdam central. There is a large playground with cafe nearby, perfect to spend time with kids while waiting for the next tour if you turn up without pre-booking. Highly recommended to visit!
