Children in Need 2025 Raises Over £45M! Highlights, Sara Cox's Marathon Challenge & More (2025)

A massive success for Children in Need 2025! The power of giving back has never been more evident. With an incredible total of over £45 million raised, this annual event has once again proven its impact on supporting children and young people across the UK. But here's where it gets controversial... the final amount is likely to grow even further!

Hosted by an all-star lineup including Paddy McGuinness, Mel Giedroyc, Lenny Rush, Rochelle Humes, Vernon Kay, and Big Zuu, the BBC One show on Friday night was a spectacle. From hilarious sketches featuring Gladiators and The Apprentice stars to captivating performances by Strictly Come Dancing professionals, the night had it all.

Musical acts like Lewis Capaldi, Tom Fletcher of McFly, and his son Buzz, along with Eurovision contestants Remember Monday, added to the star-studded affair. The three-hour show culminated in an announcement of £45,507,536, with a significant chunk, over £9.5 million, raised by the incredible Sara Cox for her 135-mile challenge.

Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox's journey was nothing short of inspiring. She completed five marathons in five days, running, jogging, and walking through northern England, finishing fittingly in Pudsey. At the finish line, she shared her emotions with fellow DJ Scott Mills, saying, "It's been the most wonderful, yet painful, experience of my life." She humorously added, "I've never had such shapely calves, they're so swollen it's like I've been hit with a bat!"

During the appeal show, Cox described her journey as a rollercoaster of emotions. "It was a lot," she said. Exhausted but elated, Cox expressed that the challenge had been an incredible experience.

One of the highlights was a skit featuring Lord Sugar from The Apprentice, where he found himself in an unusual position - being grilled in the boardroom! He explained his participation as a favor to Pudsey, allowing eight children to ask him questions like, "Why is your name Lord Sugar when you're so salty all the time?" His response? "Well, Sugar is my name, and that's that!"

Pudsey Bear, the iconic Children in Need mascot, and actor Lenny Rush, 16, took on new roles as "TV big cheeses" in another sketch. It showcased a children's takeover, emphasizing the importance of putting children at the heart of BBC programming. Rush, in his BBC lanyard and suit, said, "You'll face resistance, but remember, who runs the world? Kids do!"

In a funny moment, Richard Madeley threatened to fire Rush, saying, "Lenny, we both know what happens if things don't improve, don't we?"

The show also reimagined Gladiators, with children taking on the role of elite athletes. The "mini Gladiators" faced challenges that were often too big for their tiny frames, adding a cute and funny twist.

Fitness expert Joe Wicks led a live workout with Mel Giedroyc and Big Zuu, joined by some Strictly professionals. Earlier in the week, Big Zuu collaborated with Pudsey Bear and children from a theater project funded by Children in Need to present his first CBeebies Bedtime Story. He read "Basil Dreams Big," a story about resilience and believing in oneself, which was broadcast on Thursday and is now available on BBC iPlayer.

Big Zuu, the rapper and chef, shared his passion for charities that support carers and parents, recognizing the importance of trusted adults in young people's lives.

Lenny Rush, hosting for the third year, said his favorite part was meeting inspiring people and hearing their stories.

Even the BBC's daily news podcast, Newscast, got involved, with presenter Adam Fleming taking on a 25-hour podcasting mission. He welcomed various BBC radio presenters and podcasters, creating a unique blend of news and entertainment.

Children in Need, the BBC's charity for disadvantaged youth, has raised over £1 billion for charities and projects since 1980.

And this is the part most people miss... it's not just about the money. It's about the impact these funds have on changing lives and offering hope to those who need it most. So, what do you think? Is Children in Need making a real difference? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
