  5. Once mixed, spoon your mixture into a greased dish small enough to fit into your Instant Pot. Cover the dish tightly with foil. Create an aluminum foil sling by folding one long piece of foil into a long strip. This will make it easy to lift the dish out of the pot when done cooking.

  6. Pour 1 cup of water into your Instant Pot and add your trivet. Place the dish with the stuffing on top with the foil sling wrapped around it. Close the lid and cook on high pressure for 15 minutes.

Instant Pot Sausage Stuffing Tips

  • Creating a sling out of foil makes it much easier to lift your dish out of the pot once it’s done cooking. Fold a piece of foil into a long strip to create the sling, then wrap it under the bottom of the foil-wrapped dish before placing it into the pot to cook.
  • Gently stir when adding the Hawaiian rolls. You don’t want it to mix through so that it crumbles too much or becomes mushy!
  • I like to place my sage sausage stuffing under the broiler when it’s done to give it a little bit of crunch, but it’s delicious fresh out of the pressure cooker, too.
  • For a crunchy top on your Instant Pot Stuffing, heat under your oven broiler for 1 minute!

The best part about this easy stuffing recipe is that it goes well with everything! I serve it up for every holiday meal, along with my favorite Chorizo Stuffing for a little variety.

Instant Pot Stuffing Variations

  • You can substitute sourdough bread for the Hawaiian rolls.
  • If you can’t find sage sausage, you can use pork sausage in this recipe.
  • I have added cranberries and walnuts or pecans in the past and it adds a fun twist to this recipe.
  • If you are looking for a good gluten-free option, my gluten-free stuffing is amazing!

What happens if I cook the stuffing directly in the pot instead of using a separate pan?

Hi Heather! The texture will not be the same and you may receive a burn notice. We cook it in a separate pan over water and it gives the bottom of the stuffing a crisp texture. It won’t be the same if you cook it directly in the pot. Thank you for your question!
