Cottage cheese is one of those awesome foods that gets overlooked all too often! It is a shame because it packs a seriously healthy punch with tons of protein. The Friendship Diaries Cottage Cheese with 1% Milkfat has 15 grams of protein for only ½ Cup. That’s mind-blowing!

Heart-Healthy Foods

It’s also heart healthy* with only 1 gram of fat and 5 mg of cholesterol (only 2% of daily value) and 10% daily value of calcium. * While many factors affect heart disease, diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of this disease.

I have been recently told by my doctor to start watching my cholesterol intake. Cottage Cheese fits perfectly into my new diet of low cholesterol food. I found a list online for all kinds of foods that help lower cholesterol including walnuts and apples. The first thing that I started craving was a good Waldorf salad. There is nothing better than a good Waldorf Salad!

My friend is not a fan of cottage cheese, but I knew that she would love all the benefits related to this protein-packed awesomeness. Friends push each other to try new things all the time. This is particularly the case of new foods.I presented her with the dish without telling her what was in it. She was pleasantly surprised how tasty the dish was even though it had cottage cheese in it. I chose Friendship Dairies™ cottage cheese because it is not soupy or watered down like their competitors. It’s thicker, richer and cheesier, so it holds up well in recipes. You can see the video here.

Cottage Cheese Recipes

Cottage Cheese gets a bad wrap. It is considered polarizing and inhibits people from sharing their love for it with others. Something this yummy with so many good things in it should be embraced. You don’t need to be afraid to serve cottage cheese, or fear what your guests will say when your recipes include Friendship Dairies™.

Friendship Dairies cottage cheeseis thicker, richer and cheesier than your typical cottage cheese, so it can be used in more ways and included in more recipes. You can use it like cheese, blended into dips, spreads, pesto and included in other sharable crowd favorites like pizza, lasagna, and casseroles. Getting hungrier by the second! You can also use it as a replacement in dishes that call for heavier ingredients like ricotta, sour cream, mayonnaise or high-fat cheeses. It makes the food you love even better and helps you get the ones you love to eat healthier. They might not even know it’s in there until you tell them. I found all the ingredients in the recipe at my local Publix. No need to scour the internet or specialty stores for ingredients with this Waldorf Salad Recipe.
